JUNE Newsletter
Savannah Stage Company is a 501c3 nonprofit serving the southern coastal region with accessible, professional theatre

Between community potlucks, summer camp registrations and improv shows, we've been busy!  Take a look below at all we've been up to this May.

May 10th, Savannah Chatham Citizens Advocacy held it's annual fundraiser where Savannah  Stage Company decorated a table - Oz themed of course!  We had a blast hearing stories about standing up for those in need and supporting our neighbors.  We spent time with our friends at Starlandia and lots of others.  We got to sit at the GPB Radio table and went home with some cool sunglasses :) Guests at our Emerald City table received free tickets to the show!

May 12th, we spent the afternoon doing camp sign ups at Charles Ellis Montessori.  This summer we're starting our (it)'s B.I.G. Summer Camp!  Sign your students up today - learn more below.
May 19th was our 2nd improv show of the year and it was a blast!  Our new space on the 2nd floor of Ampersand is perfect for (it).  Ampersand has been such great supporters and this fits so naturally for us.  Our friends at OddLot Improv came to visit as well.  We not only serve children and the elderly on tour, or our traditional theatre enthusiasts with our plays, but a very diverse crowd at our improv shows.  We're serving ALL of Savannah.

May 22nd began music rehearsals for Wizard of Oz.  All of our new company members met for orientation last week to get ready for our trip to Oz.  We've added eight new company members from our May auditions.  Our first seated rehearsal [what many refer to as a read-thru], will be coming up shortly and we'll get this puppy on it's feet.

Introducing our newest company members (left to right): Liz Rogers, Gary Shelby, Geena Denton, Rodney Creech, Hillary Lewis, and Katie Gainey.

LEXI AMBROSE is a structural pillar in the Savannah Stage Company house.  She began as Advancement Director in 2013, starred in our second production.  She is now our Associate Artistic Director and Educational Director, while also serving as actor, director, costumer, and choreogragpher  - she serves in many, many ways.  Her dedication and passion for the work we do for the community is infectious.  As Educational Director, Lexi introduced weekly acting classes for our company and is now leading the way organizing our (it)'s B.I.G. Summer Camp.  Lexi is SSC.  She makes this place special and her professionalism and standard for her work leads our company artistically and administratively.

In order to remain accessible to all students, Savannah Stage Company is setting up an Educational Scholarship for students in need.  Theatre education is invaluable for creativity, social growth, communication skills, amongst many other benefits.  We don't think students should be denied the opportunity to learn because of finances.

Please consider giving to our Educational Scholarship and sponsoring a camper.  For $150, you give a student an opportunity to stretch their imaginations, be brave with their fellow campers and build their speaking/performance skills.  The cost covers a snack for the student, 3 hours a day for a week with a camp improv show on the final day!
