Celebrating World Refugee Month

Dear Friends,

On World Refugee Day, refugees are speaking. Will Hong Kong listen?
Life can change in a matter of minutes. While nobody chooses to become a refugee, we can choose to listen to them. World Refugee Day is an occasion to open our hearts and minds to the plight of over 65 million refugees forcibly displaced by violence and conflict around the world. June 20th is a day to hear their stories, show our solidarity and intensify our support to them. World Refugee Day is a time to highlight their challenges and make their lives more visible to the public.

Refugees are not just victims with needs. They are survivors with inspirational stories to tell.
Behind all the statistics, refugees and asylum seekers are real people with harrowing tales of suffering and loss, as well as hope and ambition. We should honour their courage, strength and resilience in the face of hardship and amplify their voices.

This month, Centre for Refugees has joined efforts with a few organizations to provide platforms to let refugees speak for themselves and share their experiences.

We ask you--our community--to stand with us in solidarity as we observe World Refugee Day 2018 and commemorate the courage and resilience of refugees in our city and around the world. Join us in our events (details below).

Thank you for your continued support!

On World Refugee Day 2018, Community Business and Centre For Refugees would like to invite you to join a lineup of expert panelists to discuss the importance of Diversity and Inclusion in your workplace. In particular, we will tackle the big questions surrounding refugee employment: do recognised refugees have the right to work in Hong Kong? How can YOU make a difference? This event will offer a rare insight into the process refugees face to seek work permits, as well as highlight some key barriers broken and positive stories.
