Chamber Honors Top Safety Records for 2014
Congratulations Safety Awards Winners


Last week, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce recognized business leaders and employees at more than 475 company locations from across the state for making workplace safety a priority. South Carolina Chamber members were recognized and honored for having a successful workplace safety record during 2014 at the Safety Awards Luncheon, presented by Fisher and Phillips LLP. The annual Safety Awards recognize companies and their employees who have had a commendable Lost Workday Case Rate during the calendar year. Certificates were presented last Thursday to deserving companies that are committed to the health and safety of employees.

Best Places To Work In South Carolina Deadline In Less Than 2 Weeks

The South Carolina Chamber, the publishers of SCBIZ and Best Companies Group have partnered for the 10th consecutive year to produce the Best Places to Work in South Carolina. These awards are dedicated to recognizing South Carolina’s most innovative and top-notch employers. Upon completion of an assessment process, all participating companies will receive an Employee Feedback Report, which details results of their specific survey. Similar reports can cost thousands of dollars if initiated independently.

Those companies selected as Best Places to Work will be honored during a reception and dinner on August 6 at the Columbia Marriott, presented by Colonial Life. To be eligible for consideration, companies must meet the following criteria:

• Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity
• Be a publicly or privately held business
• Have a facility in South Carolina
• Have a minimum of 15 employees working in South Carolina
• Be in business a minimum of one year

Now in its eleventh year, the Salute to Small Business is a collaboration between the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the South Carolina Coalition for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Inspire the American Dream: Golf Classic and Career Day

Inspiring the American Dream Foundation’s inaugural educational fundraiser was organized to create aware­ness for the various career paths available to young South Carolina students, in addition to sharing with them the knowledge, skills, and character traits, necessary to live independent, prosperous and productive lives. Support from individuals and companies in the Upstate can enable Inspiring the American Dream Foundation to finance Opportunity to Succeed programs at elementary and middle schools throughout Greenville and Pickens Counties. Make plans to join them and participate in the golf classic in the morning and the career fair in the afternoon on May 19. The Foundation’s booked the following headliners for the event:

  • Dale Gilbert, media personality and public address announcer for Clemson University football and basketball
  • Kylie Odette, local songwriter and performing artist
  • Sam Wyche,  motivational speaker and former head football coach of the Cincinnati Bengals
