2017 Competitiveness Agenda... this Monday we will be releasing our Competitiveness Agenda to the media. Our Agenda has three key components this year: finishing the job on infrastructure funding, filling the workforce pipeline, and cutting the red tape on business licensing. These issues effect the business community and your bottom line. Be on the lookout for our 2017 Competitiveness Agenda in your inbox Monday morning.

You Are Invited...  Business Speaks is approaching and your voice and presence is needed to show the South Carolina business community is powerful and united!  Business Speaks is the Chamber’s annual legislative session kick-off, including a staff-led statehouse tour, briefings with key S.C. Senate and S.C. House members, and a networking reception for attendees to meet and greet key legislators. In addition to the event, we will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. in the Statehouse Rotunda. We encourage all our members to attend and stand behind the speakers to show solidarity. To register for the event click here.

Deadline Approaching... We’re partnering with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the S.C. Department of Commerce, and others to recognize small business leaders in several categories for the incredible impact they have on our state. Click here to nominate your small business or a small business in your community for an SBA Award. Deadline is January 10th.

SNOW?!...  It's expected to be a messy weekend for many in our state with snow in the forecast.  Meteorologists at WYFF in Greenville say the Upstate will see "significant snowfall" Friday. A winter storm warning has been issued for Newberry, Fairfield and Kershaw Counties.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for Saluda County, and a winter storm watch has been issued for Lee County from Friday night into early Saturday afternoon. To report a power outage call: SCE&G 1-888-333-4465, Duke 1-800-769-3766, Santee Cooper 1-888-769-7688.

We thank you for your investment and support as we work to make South Carolina the best place in the nation to live, work and do business.
