Happy New Year All!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and kicked off 2022 feeling refreshed and energized ⚡️

We know that a lot of companies out there may still be considering what goals they'd like to achieve this year, so we thought we'd share this recent Fast Company article about the tech startup Bento, working to improve issues related to food insecurity.  This article struck a chord with us and shaped some clear resolutions for 2022.  We'd like to share these, in the hope that it will open the conversation for how we can all make a bigger impact as a production community.

While we of course love what we do (shooting gorgeously stacked burgers and flowing chocolate gets us excited to jump outta bed every morning!), we also acknowledge that some practices in the tabletop industry may perpetuate current food and health related concerns affecting our communities. We realize that there are many causes we could support as a member of the production industry (from hiring inequalities, to environmental concerns), but since our productions themselves and products they promote directly impact these issues, we feel particularly called to these challenges.

We believe that shooting tabletop and improving these conditions do not need to be mutually exclusive.

We’re committed to being part of the solution and will make these promises:

  • Partnering with our local food bank to ensure consistent donations of excess food
  • Canteen team members will regularly volunteer at our partner food bank
  • Engaging with promising initiatives related to these issues (i.e. food insecurity, food deserts, obesity, eating disorders, alcohol abuse, etc.). We will stay on top of current calls-to-action and speak about them on our social media channels.
  • Donating 5% of our profits to organizations that are positively affecting change in these areas of concern
  • We will voice these commitments on our website, on our bid letters and in our sales decks.
We acknowledge that we are only a very small piece of this puzzle, and we invite our colleagues, clients and partners to take part in these efforts with us.  The more support we have to enact these changes, the better off our communities will be!  If you'd like to connect and get involved, please reach out to us here
