Soup and Bagel

Monday to Thursday (12:30 PM - 2:00 PM)

Come and enjoy fresh homemade soup and warm bagels from Monday to Thursday, 12:30 to 2pm, in the Bagelounge. The perfect way to replenish your energy for your busy afternoon!

Weekly Rosary

Tuesday (5:00 PM)

On Tuesdays at around 5:00 PM (after weekday Mass), there will be a rosary group meeting in the Newman Centre chapel. Please drop by if you would like to pray with us!

Book Launch: The Church and Indigenous Peoples in the Americas

Wednesday, March 27th (5:00 PM)

On Wednesday, March 27th at 5:00 at the Newman Centre, there will be a panel discussion with Michel Andraos, Christine Zachary-Deom, and Brian McDonough for the book launch of The Church and Indigenous Peoples in the Americas: In Between Reconciliation and Decolonization.

Your Qs on Tap: Theology of the BODY, God's Plan for Human Love

Friday, March 29th (5:00 PM - 6:30 PM)

What is God's plan for human love? Why did God create us male and female? How can we find true love that leads to true happiness? Join us as we discover the beauty and meaning of sexuality in the light of God's love. Bring your questions and enjoy friendly discussion and refreshments! See you there!

Saturday Night Supper

Saturday, March 30th (6:00 PM)

The NCSS has a longstanding tradition of hosting regular suppers on Saturday nights, prepared by members of the Newman community. For only $5, you can enjoy a full meal, including dessert! SNS this week will be prepared by Jordan Drury.

Saint Benoit-du-Lac one-day retreat

Sunday, March 31st (9:00 AM)

On Sunday, March 31st, there will be a one day retreat at the Saint Benoit-du-Lac Benedictine monastery. We will be leaving from the Newman Centre at 9:00 am, and the retreat costs $10. If you are interested in participating, please contact Father John, Julian, or Elena, our VP Spritual.

NCSS Elections

March 31st to April 14th

With the end of the winter semester approaching, it is time to begin thinking about who will be on the next NCSS executive team! The first part of the election process is the nomination period. Free free to nominate multiple candidates, as well as nominate any candidate for multiple positions. Here is the full election schedule:

Nomination period: March 31st - April 5th
Candidate mini speeches: April 7th (after Mass)
Voting period: April 7th - April 12th

Events and Activities Next Month

Diocesan World Youth Day

Saturday, April 13th

Every year, Archbishop Christian Lépine invites all young people to join him in celebrating the vitality of young people and to proclaim the joy of their faith in Jesus Christ during the diocesan celebration of the World Youth Day. This year, the theme for WYD is Mary's Amen to Mary.

We are also looking for volunteers to help out with the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ariel Pan, our VP Social Justice.

NCSS Membership

Membership in the Society is open to everyone and comes with the following benefits:
  • a $2 discount on a Saturday Night Supper
  • right to attend Council meetings
  • right to vote in Society elections (if you are a SSMU or PGSS member)
Memberships cost $2 and can be purchased from our VP Finance, Anthony Duchesne. We will also be selling memberships at SNS on March 30th.


The Newman Choir welcomes new students to join us. We usually practice for 1 hour before Mass on Sunday. For more information please contact choir director Ariel Pan at

Lectors & Acolytes

If you are interested in reading or altar serving at Mass at the Newman Centre, please contact OiYin at (lectors) or Matthew at (servers). We are particularly short on altar servers, so any volunteers regardless of experience would be greatly appreciated!

Mass Schedule

The Newman Centre has Mass every Sunday at 5:00pm. Weekday Masses are held on Tuesday to Friday at 4:30pm, with Eucharistic Adoration from 4:00-4:30pm. Prior to all weekday Masses, a priest will be available for spiritual direction at 3:00pm, with occasional exceptions on Thursdays, where priest availability will begin at 3:30. Confessions are heard before all Masses.

Centre Hours

The Newman Centre is open weekdays from 10:00am-5:00pm (extended hours on some days) and on weekends during scheduled events such as Mass.

Parking at Newman

Parking spaces are reserved for staff, all others by permission only. Fees apply. See a member of staff before parking. Unidentified vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
