Bible Study

Book Sale

Now - Thursday, September 26th
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Come check out our incredible book sale! There are both sacred an secular works, including works of many saints, notable members of the clergy of both past and present, as well as novels and (if you still haven't gotten them) textbooks! For the nifty price of $2, you can purchase a hardcover book, and for the even niftier price of $1, you can purchase a softcover book!

Soup and Bagel

Monday to Thursday
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Soup and Bagel has resumed! Come and enjoy fresh homemade soup and warm bagels from Monday to Thursday, 12:30 to 2pm, in the Bagelounge (on the ground floor of the Newman Centre): the perfect way to replenish your energy for your busy afternoon!

Volunteering-Shelter La Porte Ouverte

Friday, September 27th

Come with us on Friday afternoon to La Porte Ouverte, a shelter located on Parc! We will be going there to help to the best of our abilities. We will be meeting at Milton Gates at 2:45 PM, so please don't be shy and come enjoy a fun time of service together!

Movie Night - Aladdin

Friday, September 27th
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Come join us for our *shining, shimmering, splendid* movie night as we watch Disney's new Aladdin movie! We will be providing popcorn, but feel free to bring any snacks or drinks to enjoy or share during the movie.

Saturday Night Supper (SNS)

Saturday, September 28th
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The Newman Catholic Students' Society has a longstanding tradition of hosting regular suppers on Saturday nights, prepared by members of the Newman community. For $5, you can enjoy a full meal, including dessert! This SNS will be a crêpes night prepared by Anthony and Marine, in conjunction with board games and karaoke night. There will be a vegetarian option.

Games Night- Board Games & Karaoke

Saturday, September 28th
7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Come join us for a night of fun and games in conjunction with SNS! This will be a great time to meet new people, enjoy classic board games, and relax (or not, if you are a competitive word-piecer in Scrabble).
While we will have games such as Scattergories, Headbands, Sequence, Scrabble, Scopa, and some other games, you are free to bring your own games!

Mass Volunteer Orientation

Sunday, September 29th
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This is an orientation session for both new and returning Mass volunteers at the Newman Centre. Fr. Joachim, our new chaplain, and Matthew, our veteran altar server, will be present, and baked goods will be provided! Please join us if you are interested in serving as an altar server, lector (reader), or usher (to collect offerings)!

Living at Newman - Room available!

The Newman Centre of McGill University has a single room available for in the women's coach-house (3484 Peel Street). If you want to be an active member of our vibrant community at the Newman Center and you want to become a resident, please contact the Newman Centre at and For more information about residence life:

NCSS Membership

Membership in the Society is open to everyone and comes with the following benefits:
  • a $2 discount on a (one) Saturday Night Supper
  • right to attend Council meetings
  • right to vote in Society elections (if you are a SSMU or PGSS member)
Memberships cost $2 and can be purchased from our VP Finance, Wilhelm Magner. We will also be selling memberships at future Saturday Night Suppers (SNS).


The Newman Choir welcomes new students to join us. We usually practice for 1 hour before Mass on Sunday. For more information please contact choir director Ariel Pan at

Lectors & Acolytes

If you are interested in reading or altar serving at Mass at the Newman Centre, please contact OiYin at (lectors) or Matthew at (servers). We are particularly short on altar servers, so any volunteers regardless of experience would be greatly appreciated!

Mass Schedule

The Newman Centre has Mass every Sunday at 5:00PM. Weekday Masses are held on Tuesday to Friday at 4:30PM, with Eucharistic Adoration from 4:00-4:30PM. Prior to all weekday Masses, a priest will be available for spiritual direction at 3:00PM, with occasional exceptions on Thursdays, where priest availability will begin at 3:30. Confessions are heard before all Masses.

Centre Hours

The Newman Centre is open weekdays from 10:00AM-5:00PM (extended hours on some days) and on weekends during scheduled events such as Mass.

Parking at Newman

Parking spaces are reserved for staff, all others by permission only. Fees apply. See a member of staff before parking. Unidentified vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
