Only McGill students part of the Newman community are allowed to vote in this election. You may vote for ONE candidate for each position or you may also abstain from voting for any position(s).

Fish Frosh 2022


Fish Frosh is a frosh alternative to faculty froshes. Hosted by four of the Christian groups on campus, we aim to welcome all incoming McGill students and give them the chance to form meaningful friendships and discover Montreal! If you would like to volunteer for Fish Frosh 2022, please see the slides below and keep an eye out for their volunteer applications!

Liturgical Events for Lent and Easter

Save the dates! The Newman Centre is open and running a full schedule of liturgical activities throughout Lent & Holy Triduum. We hope to see you all there!

Starting Tuesday, March 8th

Open Now: Newman Lounge! The Newman Lounge is a new, cozy, cafe-style study space at the Newman Centre.
We will offer tea and coffee from 10am-5pm, M-F, and a soup, bagel, and coffee lunch from 12-2pm, M-F. All are welcome!

Employment Opportunity: Manger of Student Affairs, Newman Centre of McGill University
The Newman Centre of McGill University is the home of the Catholic intellectual, social and spiritual life at McGill University. The Manager of Student Affairs works under the direct supervision of the Director and collaborates with the Chaplain to promote the mission of the Newman Centre. The Manager of Student Affairs (1) implements effective outreach to students primarily at McGill University, (2) manages and develops the Newman Fellowship Program and (3) supports programming and planning of Newman Centre activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the Director, the Manager of Student Affairs:
(1) Implements effective outreach to students primarily at McGill University (40%):
  • Participates with the Director in developing outreach strategies and assists the Director in maintaining a Catholic presence on campus
  • Supports the executives and the activities of the Newman Catholic Student Society (NCSS)
(2) Manages and develops the Newman Fellowship Program (40%):
  • Supports the Director in developing and implementing the Catholic Leadership Program
  • Assists the Director in interviewing, selecting, assessing, supporting, coordinating and mentoring the Newman Fellows
(3) Supports programming and planning Newman Centre activities (20%).
Terms of employment
This is a part-time position (25 hours/week). The salary is $ 25,000/year, with 100 hours of paid leave per annum (equivalent to 4 weeks). The contract is for a 3-year term conditioned on an initial 6-month trial period and a performance review at the end of the first year.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Holds at least one university degree
  • Active and fully initiated Catholic, in good standing with the Church, with strong knowledge of the Catholic faith
  • At least three years of related experience, including supervisory experience and working with young adults
  • Proficiency working with CANVA, Eventbrite, Facebook and other social media networks, Word, Excel, PPT
  • Fluency in English, preferably also French, other languages are an asset.
  • A valid driver’s licence is an asset
How to Apply

All applicants will be considered fairly. For full consideration, please submit your full application dossier before 1 April 2022. Complete applications will be considered until the position is filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. The start date for the position is 4 July 2022. Employees must abide by the Newman Centre’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and Regulations. A background check is required as part of the hiring process.

Centre Hours

The Newman Centre is open weekdays from 10:00AM-5:00PM (extended hours on some days) and on weekends during scheduled events such as Mass.

Parking at Newman

Parking spaces are reserved for staff, all others by permission only. Fees apply. See a member of staff before parking. Unidentified vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
