We’ve been awarded £20,000!

A few weeks ago, we were thrilled to receive good news of another successful funding application. The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund is a grant making registered charity which was established primarily to aid the research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability by making grants to voluntary organisations working in this field. The history of this fund goes right back to 1916 and the birth of Frank Bruce Bailey Thomas who was born with learning disabilities and became the heir of the Mansfield Brewery. Thanks to SGCA Trustee, David Bell for his research and hard work in helping to secure the success of this application. The grant of £20k will go towards the building improvements at Pendle and Weavers. Well done to everyone involved.

Friendship Day Decorations

We celebrated International Friendship Day at Stanley Grange on Friday 30th July by using handprints to create artwork  on a butterfly theme. The materials, equipment, refreshments and room decorations for our Community Hall makeover have been funded by the National Lottery. This is a five year project which includes supporting the salary of Kevin Phoenix, Activities Coordinator at Future Directions who delivers a programme of events and partnerships, lifestyle and learning opportunities and community projects. Take a look at the video below!

Plant Centre Assistant Vacancy

Our partner, Future Directions CIC is a Community Interest Company is recruiting a Plant Centre Assistant to join our Stanley Grange Plant Centre Team.

This is a really exciting opportunity to play a key role in our values-driven organisation. The ideal candidate will have a can-do approach with the ability to problem solve, be able to work flexibly, have excellent organisational skills, and be able to multitask and be a team player.

Messing about with Boats - Day trip to Fleetwood

Swing into action!

Thanks to Trustee, Jenny Dagnall for working with the grounds team to get this new swing installed. It is a high backed support chair designed for adults with special needs. Thank you to everyone involved in raising the money for this great new piece of kit.

Minibus trip to Fleetwood

A favourite day out in the SGCA minibus is a trip to the model boating lake in Fleetwood. Activities Coordinator, Kevin Phoenix took a small group last week. Although the weather wasn’t as great as it had been over the previous days, everyone still had a lovely day out.

We submitted an application to Awards for All, National Lottery for £10,000 for 12 months running costs for the mini bus and the decoration of the Community Hall last week. Keep your fingers crossed! 🤞🏽
