UPDATE FROM HARRIET ROBERTS, OPERATIONS & PROJECTS MANAGER, STANLEY GRANGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION - 6 September 2020
FROM ISOLATION TO CELEBRATION!🎉
STANLEY GRANGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN AWARDED £10,000 IN NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING TO ENABLE RESIDENTS TO GET OUT AND ABOUT SOCIALISE AFTER THE RESTRICTIONS OF COVID

The new funding is from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest funder of community activity in the UK. This will support the running costs for our mini-bus for another 12 months and the redecoration of the community hall.

We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to reinvigorate our plans to broaden the range of activities, outings and opportunities we can offer to residents. During the lockdown it was difficult for people to socialise and get out and about. This is so important because it helps individuals and SGCA as a charity to build relationships with others and to create our own supportive circles of friends and peers.
A look back at the summer season with some postcards from our recent trips to Knowsley Safari Park, Chester Zoo and the seaside. As the gang set off in the minibus, Activities Coordinator Kevin Phoenix joked, ‘Bring me back a monkey!’ He didn’t expect a life size model of a zebra to arrive the following day. Debra the Zebra was rescued from outside a circus in Leeds for an art project in September. The plan was for her to undergo some animal realignment and identify as donkey for our 2021 Christmas Card photo shoot later this month, but we all like her looking just as she is. She’s already made a star appearance on the weekly Future Directions Facebook live show, Funtime Friday.
