“ALRIGHT BOYS, WHEN WE GET TO THE AIRPORT, THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE TO LANDâ€
STREAMING ON DCIST.COM
Los Angeles, CA (October 6, 2014) – This Saturday, Philadelphia’s Restorations will perform at CALL + RESPONSE IV, an almost annual art show in the nation’s capital that brings writers and visual artists together to create and showcase joint, original works. CALL + RESPONSE IV will take place this Saturday, October 11 at Hole In The Sky (2110 5th Street NE) at 7:00PM. Restorations will perform and each piece of writing will be on display with their corresponding visual response. There will be a 7-inch available for purchase (limited to 300 copies) of the music packaged with all the writing from the show and a screen printed jacket.
Restorations’ initial contribution comes in the form of an original instrumental track called “Alright boys, when we get to the airport, there will be absolutely no place to land,†written solely for the show and currently streaming on DCist.com: http://dcist.com/2014/10/listen_restorations_alright_boys_wh.php
CALL + RESPONSE IV co-curator Kira Wisnieski, already a big fan of Restorations previous work, was thrilled to bring their music to an entirely new audience with this show. “I am over the moon that Restorations was able to participate and bring the element of music to this year’s show. I’m excited to share not only the song, but all the writing and visual art of Call + Response IV with everyone.â€
Joining Kira are her co-curators, Dillon Babington and Mike O’Brien. For the first three iterations of the show, the writers called, and the visual artists responded. This year, they’ve switched it up a bit.
First is THE CALL: Restorations created a single long-form instrumental track, which was then sent to sixteen acclaimed, emerging and award-winning poets, fiction writers, journalists, and essayists largely based in the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area. Next is THE RESPONSE: the writers then wrote short, reactive pieces, none over one-thousand words, all in unique, original conversation with Restorations and their music. And FINALLY, each written response went to one of sixteen acclaimed, emerging and award-winning visual artists who entered the conversation, too: not just with the written work, but with the music as well. The entire night will be sponsored by local brewery 3 Star Brewing Company.
Restorations will release their highly anticipated new album, LP3, on October 28, 2014 and kick off a headlining tour on October 24 in Asbury Park, NJ.
