Green Challenge
Carry your trash with you for a week (or a day). Collect everything you can't recycle or compost in a clear bag and carry it around with you. Be aware of how much we really "throw away".

Happy Holidays, <<First Name>>

Everyone has a role over the holidays, no matter who you're with or what your tradition. When my family gathers (1 mom, 4 daughters, 3 husbands, 6 grandchildren, 4 dogs and this year 1 new boyfriend) for the holidays, my role is 'kitchen director', keeping things planned, organized, stocked and clean. One challenge I have, though, is knowing how to keep the holidays 'green'.  Can I recycle wrapping paper? Can I compost turkey bones?  Where can I take unloved gifts or buy an ugly Christmas sweater? Here are some tips for keeping your holidays green and fun this year. Enjoy!

Local Love

Buying used stuff rocks and Louisville has loads of awesome consignment stores. For gifts, housewares, and furniture, try Rellek or Eyedia. For clothing and accessories, there's Sassy Fox (women's), Evolve (men's) or Margaret's (both).  Get great used media at A Reader's Corner or Book & Music Exchange.  Lastly, Goodwill can offer some real gems and is a great place to take unwanted treasures.

Shout Out

Good Garbage! It's a creative re-use organization that re-purposes anything (clean) under the sun. Look at all the materials they accept and get your stuff there NOW! To recycle electronics, Eco-cell takes it all. Here are a few more alternatives for:
* Gift Wrap
* Holiday Cards
* Material Gifts

Heros

Just before Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of experiencing I Go Among Trees, a concert featuring Voces Novae, signing new music written by the brilliant musician, Harry Pickens inspired by the poetry of Wendell Berry, who is the coolest poet, activist, agrarian, and earth ambassador ever. Wendell educates people on the importance of getting AND giving back to the land for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In his words, "What I stand for is what I stand on". News

I had the sweet honor of officiating another wedding last month. I love helping couples personalize their ceremonies to create an authentic and unforgettable space in which to make their life long commitments.

Gift certificates are one more awesome gift alternative.  Give the gift of your time or service or let someone else take care of it for you. Massages, dinners in or out, tickets for music or movies, or even a charitable contribution in someone's name are all great ideas. Buy 5 or more massages from me and receive 10% off this season.

Referrals are the greatest compliment!  Receive 10% off any massage every time you refer a new client.  Just have them mention your name when scheduling the appointment.

I LOVE feedback! Please send me gift ideas, jokes, questions, recipes, things you would like to see included in the newsletters and what you loved and may not have loved about your massage session. I look forward to working with you soon.
