Recognition for Teaching Excellence in Environmental Education

It's that time of year again! The Laboratory School at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study is excited to be in it's 5th year of honouring both pre-service and in-service teachers. The Edward Burtynsky Award was created in order to recognize and celebrate outstanding elementary school teachers in the province of Ontario who, through their exemplary teaching methods, create learning opportunities that inspire students to become environmentally conscious, responsible world citizens who take sustainable action that protects and restores the environment, thereby creating hope for future generations . The Dr. David Suzuki Fellowship Award was created in recognition of excellence in pre-service Environmental Education of elementary school children in the province of Ontario. Inspiring Environmental Inquiry through Children's Literature

Owlkids and The Laboratory School at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study are excited to announce our very first national award, recognizing a teacher and/or teacher librarian who is using literature to teach students in innovative ways and engage them in the inquiry process.
We invite elementary school teachers and teacher librarians across Canada who use literature to inspire discussion and get students thinking about their community as well as the local and global environment, to submit an application form.
