Burtynsky Award Winner Petra Eperjesi

"It's much easier to start from play than learning goals," Petra explains. "This way I'm working with the current of their interest instead of fighting battles to get them interested in my agenda." Petra Eperjesi won the Edward Burtynsky Award in 2014 and we are thrilled to see her featured in The Magazine of the Ontario College of Teachers, Professionally Speaking. Petra's outdoor kindergarten classroom at Tawingo College in Huntsville, Ontario is featured in two of our Teacher Story videos on the Natural Curiosity website. Petra is now teaching at the Ottawa Forest and Nature School. Watch Petra and the other staff at the Forest School talk about the importance of children directing their learning by playing in nature in this OCT Great Teaching Video.
In July 2015, Learning for a Sustainable Future partnered with Natural Curiosity to host “Making Authentic Inquiry Work”, a professional development institute in Toronto.
