EACA Care Awards Ceremony: 2014 & 2015 winners & MEP Care Award announced

FCB Mayo Peru and LDV United Belgium were both awarded with a Grand Prix at the EACA Care Awards 2015 Ceremony held on 23 June 2015. FCB Mayo Peru touched the jury with the campaign “Searching for hearts” for the Peruvian Cancer Foundation and was awarded the Grand Prix of the 2014 edition of the Care Awards. LDV United Belgium was awarded the 2015 Grand Prix for their campaign “Special Olympics: European Summer Games”. A special Award to honour the work undertaken by MEPs in support of social, humanitarian and environmental causes was presented to MEP Mariya Gabriel (European People’s Party) as part of the EACA Care Awards. Ms Gabriel received the MEP Care Award for her commitment to violence against women and gender equality. MEP Damian Drăghici (Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats) received a special commendation for his dedication to the rights and social inclusion of the Roma. AVMSD public consultation coming up
Commissioner Oettinger has singled out the AVMSD reform as one of key elements to achieving much discussed Digital Single Market. In his latest speech, Ms Oettinger said that the public consultation would assess which audio-visual services should be regulated. Read more.
The Court of Justice to rule on on-demand video services

Apple to introduce ad blocking to mobile Safari browser
American tech giant is developing a new version of its mobile browser: Safari which will enable easy and smooth ad blocking. Apple’s move represents a major shift as until now the ad blocking was possible only on desktop and laptop browsers. Read more.

The European Commission has announced new human resources solutions for its senior management. Many directors general are moving to different positions and so is the Director General of DG CONNECT, Robert Madelin. Read more.
31% of people do not feel they have a full control over their data
Eurobarometer on data protection has just been released. Six out of ten respondents say that they do not trust online businesses. Read more.
The trialogue on the Data Protection General Regulation has started
Following three years of negotiations, the EU justice ministers have agreed on the common position on the new data protection framework. The compromise opened a door for the trialogue between the Council, the Commission and the Parliament to begin. Read more
Hungary regulates agencies’ bonuses
The Hungarian Parliament has recently adopted a law that amends the 2008 law on commercial advertising activities with regard to advertising agency bonuses. Read more.

The European Parliament’s Legal Affairs committee has voted to reject amendments to the EU Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation, which would have seen nutrient profiles abandoned. Read more.
Fourth generation of European Advertising Certificate graduates honoured
Over 1,000 young professionals in the communications industry from Europe have successfully taken the 2015 European Advertising Certificate exam and have now received their results. With a pass rate of 97%, this year’s edition has proven to be a great success once again. Read more.
EACA Euro Effie Awards Gala: SAVE THE DATE!
The EACA Euro Effie Awards Gala will take place on Tuesday, 20 October 2015. The call for entries is now closed and the finalists are announced. The second round jury will meet in Brussels on 30 June, chaired by Josep Hernandez, Senior Director of Communications Planning at Mondelez International to decide this year’s winners. Read more.
