Campaign Kickoff a Success
On March 9, 2013, Brian held his campaign kickoff at Salerno's in Eldersburg, and it was attended by police, firefighters, attorneys, elected officials, business community members, and many other citizens of Carroll County who offered their support. Mike Donahue, the Chair of Arson Mitigation at the National Fire Academy, and Lietuenant Tim Frye, of the Maryland State Police, spoke to the crowd and gave strong praise of Brian by noting his long history of educating law enforcement, and his extensive experience in developing effective partnerships with law enforcement as a former prosecutor. John DeLeonardo, Brian's oldest of four sons, introduced his father and talked of the strong family support for Brian's decision to seek the position of State's Attorney. Brian then spoke to the crowd, and first noted that he learned "leadership with integrity" from his own father, who was a military veteran that died when Brian was in his early 20s. Brian's father taught him the value of hard-work, courage to continue despite the obstacles one faces in life, and the importance of always doing what is right. Brian stressed that he intends as State's Attorney to work closely with law enforcement in order ensure the police have a true partner in combatting crime, and that he will work pro-actively to target the worst criminals in the County in order to make our communities safe. Brian stressed that he will ensure that the Carroll County State's Attorney's Office has the most professional, skilled, and responsive prosecutors in the State.
