A Friendly Note From Our Team
Dear <<First Name>> ,
The association of hotels on Curaçao is proud to announce that the occupation rate of rooms was quite significant during the first two months of the year. In fact February had a record occupational rate of 83%, or 5% higher than previously recorded. This is an outstanding result and demonstrates popularity for our little island with tourists and visitors from abroad.
The R4 RE/MAX International Convention was held in Las Vegas, United States for which Hans and Margriet Vervoord were present as representatives of our office. Many photo moments had been made while during the awards ceremony Hans received his award and Margriet proudly held a meet-and-greet with RE/MAX founder Mr. Dave Liniger. Other agents from our office earned awards and will be receiving them during a RE/MAX BonBini meeting later this month.
On Friday 20 March and Saturday 21 March, the annual largest voluntary action on the island took place - CURA DOET where more than 3,000 volunteers toiled two days on more than 180 projects while setting a record. RE/MAX Bon Bini team members also participated.
The 31st edition of the Regatta Curaçao is coming. On Friday and Saturday 3 & 4 April, the two-day event will take place where different leveled groups will compete against one another in an exciting race on the beautiful Spanish Water.
The youngest ones will be competing in the Optimist Class and sailing the Laser Radial. Boats such as the Sunfish, Ynling and Centaur will join in. The Catamarans and yachts will be sailing along the coast in the Racing and Cruising Class. You will also be able to spectate the windsurfers on the Spanish Water. The event promises to be a sporting weekend for all age groups.
For the sailing enthusiast, the 2015 Heineken Regatta will take place from 19-21 June, 2015.
The maximum capacity of Hato International Airport is almost reached.
This is confirmed by Curaçao Airport Partners (“CAP”) while presenting their annual report 2014 and plans for the coming three years. Commercial Director Peggy Croes expects to welcome 1.7 million visitors this year while the maximum capacity of the airport is 1.8 million. Plans were drawn out and presented to eventually suit 2.5 million visitors. In order to realize these plans CAP will invest 25 million dollars in the next three years. The plans include not only a larger terminal, but also terminals for automatic handling of formalities at the immigration department such as scanning machines for passports.
On 23 March the Curacao soccer team arrived on Curaçao to get ready for their first qualifying match on 27 March against Montserrat.
Which we won 2-1. The return will be 31 March, 2015 on Montserrat. If we succeed in defending this advantage, the next game will take us to Cuba.
Patrick Kluivert, who signed a six month contract as technical advisor, is busy organizing the national team and preparing them for qualifications. The team consists of local players from the island and those under contract in the European competition. It will not be an easy task for this team to qualify for the 2018 World Championship Soccer but we will surely try!
Being part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Curaçao celebrates the Dutch King’s birthday on 27 April. This date is the real birthday of our king.
On the eve of our King’s birthday, locals and tourists gear up for a royal night out in town. Whatever late-night revelry you are seeking, the Pietermaai District has it. Join in on the fun!
The following day festivities continue all around the island. One of the main traditions is the car boot sale whereby kids sell their old toys to earn some money.
Solar energy is the conversion of sunlight into energy. Creating and using this energy has a lot of advantages. First of all, solar energy is a constant and consistent power source, especially in Curaçao where we have so many hours of sun. Furthermore solar power provides energy security and independence, which is helpful because Curaçao regularly suffers from power failure. Moreover, it is no longer necessary to apply for licenses when you want to install solar energy because Aqualectra (the sole power provider of Curaçao) approves the installation.
In the end, billions of dollars are saved, but also maintenance is easy as the solar cells are of quality materials which are long lasting.
If you are convinced of all the advantages and want to get more information or you want to become a user of solar power, Dutch Durables is the place where you have to go.
