A Friendly Note From Our Team

Dear <<First Name>> ,
Temperature is slowly rising to Summer levels, and we love to spend some more time around the beach these days. Also, the end of May and the full month of June are chock-full of exciting (end of school year) activities like sports tournaments, assemblies, dance & drama performances. June usually also features a lot of farewell parties that sometimes leave us with mixed feelings. The majority of families that move here for a designated time, move back (or onwards) during the summer holidays.  We wish those of you who are lucky to be living on our island the strength they need to say goodbye to beloved ones. Those of you who are leaving this summer, we wish you all the best in your new destination, and please remember this is an awesome place to retire or to keep a second home!

50 Hours Of Radio For Charity

Marro Pietersz and Lauw Jacobs are planning to make 50-hours non-stop live radio show. This event will be held on Wet & Wild Beach Club, this coming June 6th - 8th. The primary purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funds for families with school aged kids that are in financial need. All raised money will be used to help purchase uniforms, books and school supplies. Last year June, a comparable event took place, and no less than Nafl 400.000 was raised. The organisers aim to raise at least as much this year, but above all aim to make it a fun event. Last year, both Dolfijn FM and TeleCuracao participated, this year Radio Hoyer 1 & 2 will join in as well.

Post sitting contest
During the weekend, a post sitting contest will be held as wel. The person that remains seated on the post for the longest time, will be awarded a Nafl 10.000 donation for the charity he or she supports, or a Nafl 1.000,- gift card with Boolchand’s

Major Sports Events

One of the major yearly sports events on our island is the Ennia Curaçao International Triathlon. This race was held om May 25th in the gorgeous Santa Barbara Plantation Resort. An international selection of participants competed either individually or as a relay team and had to complete the official Olympic distance: swimming 1.5 kms, biking for 40kms and running for 10kms.

This year, the French Gaetan Fetaud won the competition for male individuals, the Dutch Andrea Jochems won in the category female individuals and the Curacao relay team existing of Luigino Hanst (swimming), Ito Camelia (biking) and Kelvin Acosta (running) won the relay competition. Visit for more information. Photos of the race are expected to be posted soon.

If you are looking for a fun activity for this coming long weekend, you may want to head to the Spanish Water. The Curacao Challenge, an international windsurfing tournament will be held from Thursday May 29th until Sunday June 1st. During the event, windsurfers of truly all levels, that is rookie kids to top level international windsurfers will compete in races at their level.

Besides participating in races, or cheering competitors on, the organization offers activities like bouncers, face- and bodypainting, paddleboarding for friends and family, the Be Bright Beach Bar, delicious food prepared by Goisco and free windsurfing clinics.
