Join the 2015 GGHH Asia Conference!

Themed "Asian Hospitals Responding to Climate Change," the 2015 GGHH Asia Conference will gather health practitioners and environmental health experts in the region, who will share best practices in mitigation and adaptation to reduce the health sector's environmental footprint.

The conference is organized by Health Care Without Harm-Asia in partnership with Yonsei University Health System and the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute. Register!

Creating a Menu of Change: The Healthy Food in Health Care Forum

When it comes to the issue of climate change, the general public still barely understands the link between their diet and global warming. 

Last August 25’s Healthy Food in Health Care Forum, organized by Health Care Without Harm-Asia and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, served as an eye-opener for over 150 participants from the health sector in the Philippines to take the lead in promoting sustainable food in their health facilities, thereby improving the health of patients and health workers while also significantly reducing their environmental footprint. HCWH-Asia urges "New Health Leaders" to solve Metro Manila's waste problems


Last August 23, Health Care Without Harm (HCWH)-Asia participated in the New Leaders for Health Pre-Forum, which is a prelude to the Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health. Held at the Philippine International Convention Center, the Pre-Forum aimed to provide young emerging health leaders with a platform for networking, capacity-building, and dialogue on critical issues affecting global health today. Health Care Without Harm says Thank You to Merci Ferrer


After 12 prolific years with Health Care Without Harm, Merci Ferrer is leaving the organization as Director of the HCWH-Asia office to take a much deserved break and spend more quality time with her loved ones.

GGHH Conference in Indonesia

Last August 27-28 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia's Health Promoting Hospitals (HPH) members presented their initiatives in promoting the 10 Agenda Goals of GGHH in a symposium/workshop participated in by over a hundred hospital directors and managers from all over the country. 
 

GGHH in Taiwan


Last September 18-24,HCWH-Asia's GGHH team, with the support of the Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital, visited Taiwan to meet with member hospitals, who demonstrated and showcased their best practices in achieving their carbon reduction goals.

In partnership with Taiwan's Health Promoting Hospitals, a GGHH Conference in Taipei was also organized and participated in by over 120 hospitals. 


Together with Tzu Chi International Medical Association CEO Dr. Chin-Lon Lin, the team also met with Director General Shu-Ti Chiou of the Ministry of Health's Health Promotion Administration to discuss how Taiwan can improve its health care waste management practices through alternative non-incineration technologies and systems.

HEI Campaigner is Youth Award Recipient

Dr. Renzo Guinto, campaigner of the Healthy Energy Initiative of Health Care Without Harm (HCWH)-Asia, was bestowed a Special Citation for Sustainability at the inaugural CSR Youth Awards 2015 held last August 31, 2015 at the Club Filipino, San Juan City. Read more...


4th National Climate Conference


Healthy Energy Initiative campaigner Dr. Renzo Guinto gave a presentation entitled "First, Do No Harm: Mapping the Philippine Health Sector’s Role in Driving the Energy Transition and Building Climate Resilience" during the 4th National Climate Conference organized by the National Academy of Science and Technology under the Department of Science and Technology.

Dr. Guinto urged the country's scientists from different disciplines to consider health in their climate and energy research. He updated the Philippine research community about the latest in health sector activities related to climate change, including the findings of the 2015 Lancet Commission on Health and Climate.
