GGHH Launches System to Track Sustainable Health Care Waste Management

GGHH launched its brand new waste reduction measurement system as part of its online data center for members. The Health Care Waste Management data form is part of the first international effort to take collective measurable actions to reduce the health sector’s environmental footprint. Read more

Brazil | 2020 Challenge Expands

Projeto Hospitais Saudáveis (PHS), GGHH and HCWH partner in Brazil, has officially launched their new Guide for Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Health Organizations. Based on a tool of the Brazilian Greenhouse Gas Program, this new resource will assist the health sector in understanding, tracking, and addressing emissions from their facilities. Read more

US | Kaiser Permanente Pledges Bold 2025 Environmental Performance Goals

Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States and a 2020 Challenge participant, announced new and ambitious environmental goals for the year 2025 that include becoming carbon positive, buying only sustainably produced food and sending zero waste to landfills. Global | Dignity Health Urges Bold Climate Leadership at Clean Energy Ministerial

FullSizeRender Sister Susan Vickers, Vice President of Community Health for Dignity Health (2020 Challenge Participant and GGHH Member), urged Ministers of Energy from 20 countries attending the Clean Energy Ministerial in San Francisco to work with health systems to address climate change. Energy ministers and delegates participate in this annual meeting to discuss how to collaborate on solutions that advance clean energy globally and demonstrate tangible follow-up actions to COP21. Strength From Disaster on the Anniversary of Nepal Earthquake

One year on from the devastating Gorkha Earthquake in Nepal, HCWH with strategic partner and GGHH member Health Care Foundation Nepal (HECAF), and Tzu Chi Foundation (GGHH member in Taiwan), organized a conference to disseminate lessons learned over the last year and develop strategies to increase the resilience of the healthcare sector against similar events in the future.
