Announcing the 2020 Challenge Climate Champions of 2016



As 2017 begins, Global Green and Healthy Hospitals is pleased to announce the 2016 winners of the 2020 Challenge Climate Champion Awards. From New Zealand to Sweden, Costa Rica to Morocco, these institutions are leading the transformation to climate smart, resilient health care around the globe. By using their innovation, ingenuity, investments, and voice, they are reducing their climate footprint, developing low-carbon models of care, adapting to stand resilient to a changing climate, and advocating for policies to protect the future health of the planet.

Hospitals, health care facilities, health systems, and health organizations are invited to join the 2020 Challenge and pledge their commitment to protect public health from climate change. Sign the 2020 Challenge pledge today!

The Challenge and pledge are based on three main pillars:

  1. Mitigation – Reducing health care’s own carbon footprint and/or fostering low carbon health care.
  2. Resilience – Preparing for the impacts of extreme weather and the shifting burden of disease.
  3. Leadership – Educating staff and the public while promoting policies to protect public health from climate change.
