Upcoming events for the month of December: 

  • Introduction to fly fishing school will be taking place on the 4th December - SOLD OUT
  • Due to the sell out of our first introduction to fly fishing school we have opened up a second class. Only 4 spots remaining - $165ea.
  • Refine your skills at our Tuna school on 18th December. Only 10 spots remaining - $100ea.

Are you wanting to target a different species? Then why not try some of these locations!

  • Point Cartwright - Great numbers of Tailor are still being caught from the rock wash along Point Cartwright.  They are around legal size and great fun. The lure fisherman have been using metal slugs about 20-25g in weight so best you try and match your flies to these. Flies such as 1/0 Brush Flies, Cactus Deep Minnow's.
  • Borumba Dam - If you are wanting to target Bass and Saratoga then Borumba Dam in the place for you. Reports of anglers landing Saratoga by the 10's are frequently coming through the door. They are around the 70cm size, so you should use good quality hooks to penetrate there bony mouths.  Flies to try are Destroyers and Vension fish on intermediate or fast sinking lines. 
  • Lake McDonald - Lake McDonald is currently have a great topwater Bass bite. Early morning and late afternoons are the ideal time to target these fish on surface. Flies to try are Dahlbergs and Vampires. 
  • Maroochy River - Queenfish, Mangrove Jack, Flathead, Bream and Whitting are on the chew in the Maroochy River. The lure fisherman have been catching the Mangrove Jacks, Queenfish and Flathead on 4' Paddle Tail Plastics. Try match your fly presentation to best replicate these.   
  • Mooloolah River - Trevally, Bream, Flathead and Mangrove Jacks. Fly selection as above
  • Noosa River - Mangrove Jack are currently on the chew in the Noosa River. The Noosa river has great bycatch potential of Trevally, Jew and Flathead. Fly selection as above.
