Dear Friends,
It's March! International Women's Day on March 8 is a favorite holiday of mine, as it coincides with my birthday. So here are three books for girls, and then one for everyone. Each of the three "girl" books really points us to get beyond gender, and just see people as people. First, an out-of-print but fun collection of stories called The Serpent Slayer, where young women slay the dragons. Smarty Marty Steps up Her Game is a book about baseball written by a modern gender-breaker, Amy, a major league sportscaster. Finally, check out Jasmine Toguchi, Mochi Queen, an easy-reader book that breaks with the traditional role of girls.

A nice collection of inspiring stories, for any culture, any gender, is Flying Lessons and Other Stories, edited by the founder of "We Need Diverse Books." Amen to that!

Have a wonderful reading month.
