New translators help team expand
to reach more languages
Vianney Pirora (above, from Arop) and Andrew Arorai (below, from Malol) recently joined the translation team. Read on for why we pray they are the first of many new translators.
As a team we are working on Bible translations in 11 languages, but many more language communities in the Aitape West area have no Bible in their language and no translation underway.

Many of the translators we and the Arop translators have trained now want to help start translations in those neighboring languages. To free up their time, they are recruiting new translators from their own communities to help finish their translations.

Vianney and Andrew are the first fruits of their recruiting efforts.

As you gather for Thanksgiving, would you thank the Lord for Vianney and Andrew and the older translators who recruited them?

Please pray that they grow in the Lord as they grow as translators, and that many more would join them

And please pray for the experienced translators and our team leaders as they continue to make plans to expand into more languages in the area.

Thank the Lord with us that my mom is home again after almost a week in the hospital. She had a small stroke (a TIA), a very mild heart attack, and a serious Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).

Please pray for mom's continued recovery and for wisdom for Bonnie and me as we care for my mom, Bonnie's parents and her two  brothers.

We thank the Lord that we can continue to help the translation team from here in Florida as we care our family. Thank you for all you do to help make that possible.

What we do
Since 1987 we have been training local Papua New Guinean church leaders to translate the Bible into their own languages and coaching them through the process from first draft to publication.

We serve in the Aitape West Translation Project, which is producing and distributing Bible translations in 11 languages in print, electronic, audio, and video form; training local people to use the translations; and training the local translators to help other translators do the same in still more languages.

We have written about how a tsunami changed the face of Bible translation in Papua New Guinea in our bookSleeping Coconuts. It is available here on Kindle or here in paperback.
