We continue the Honor Club assault

Well here we are with 9 of our 12 months of this Optimist year completed. So quickly this time continues to pass. Looking back this month of June 2015, PNW Optimist Clubs have served youth through numerous Scholarship Awards, Tri-Star Sports Awards, and a variety of end-of-the-year activities in closing schools for the summer vacation. Many are now prepping for and carrying out summer activities like Movies in the Park, Bike Rides, and Parades. That is what being an Optimist Club member is all about and why we must continue to sustain ourselves through the Honor Club model.

Congratulations to our Honor Club qualifiers to date:
Zone 1 - BC            Zone 2 - ID              Zone 3 - OR           Zone 4- WA

Presently 33% of our District continues to maintain Honor Club status. Zones are as follows:
Zone 1 BC - 8%
Zone 2 ID - 50%
Zone 3 OR - 38.5%
Zone 4 WA -  50%

The Optimist Club of Lebanon, OR continues to be our Distinguished status leader with Middleton Area, ID striving to join the elevated circle.

Each Lt. Governor will be working with their zone during July focusing on all clubs at 0 or -1 additions, 16 in all, in order to help them reach Honor Club status. These 16 clubs would increase the District to 68.9%, a fantastic achievement for all.

Now is the time, if you haven't already, to recognize a club member or community individual as a Friend of Youth. Such recognition is necessary for Honor Club. Use the Community Impact Bundle program as an excellent way to achieve both membership and club qualification steps.

Now is also the time, if you haven't already, to start and complete your President's Pride report. The President's Pride report is accessed at OptimistLeaders.org and gives an annual report to Optimist International of all Optimist Club activities. This annual report can also serve your club as a way to let your community know the impact of Optimism in its community.

BIG EVENTS AHEAD

July 9-11, 2015 - Optimist International Convention  in New Orleans, LA. More than 20 PNW District Optimist Club members are registered to attend and participate in valuable learning activities and Optimist International business sessions.

This annual event provides Club President-elect and Secretary/Treasurer-designate training, introduces the 2015-2016 District Leadership Team and elects the 2016-2017 District Governor. Current officers and members will be inspired to reach Honor Club status with a special visitation from our Optimist International President Ken Garner and first lady Patsy. Ken will provide motivation for all to achieve excellence for our YOUTH and communities, right here, right now.  Please make your hotel reservations at the LaQuinta Inn & Suites before July 22. (Call 253.383.0146 now.)  The room block will open to the public at that time and rooms will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You don't want to miss out on the fun.

I, as your present District Governor, will be attending to our PNW District Convention. In additon, I will attempt to visit British Columbia clubs spreading positive words for Youth Activities and advancement toward all clubs' Honor Club attainment. At this point, 8% Honor Club is far below Canadian competitive results or endeavors.
