融樂會少數族裔獎學金 (2019-20)

With the generous support of donors, Hong Kong Unison is pleased to announce the 2019-20 Scholarship Scheme for Ethnic Minority Students. Unison has administered the scholarship scheme for ethnic minorities since 2008. Ethnic minority residents are welcome to apply. Please make sure to read the Application Guideline carefully before you fill in your application.

Poverty Summit 扶貧高峰會

On 11 May, Unison attended the Poverty Summit with our scholarship alumna to voice out about ethnic minorities' poverty situation. The Chief Executive thanked NGOs like Unison for coming together to have a constructive discussion. 

Public Hearing Series 少數族裔談滅貧措施

On 2nd April, Unison and 13 Unison Scholarship Awardees attended the public hearing of Panel on Welfare Service about Hong Kong's poverty situation and setting of a target for poverty elimination. The awardees spoke passionately about the poverty situation of ethnic minority community in Hong Kong, calling on the government to improve policies and cultural sensitivity. Unison Board Retreat 融樂會退修

On 13 May, Hong Kong Unison conducted a retreat with the whole staff team and our board of directors. At the retreat, we exchanged views on the future directions of Unison. We are also in the process of formulating our strategic plan for the next 3 years. 

Talk at University 大學講座

On 8 May, Hong Kong Unison conducted a placement enhancement workshop "Advocacy in Social Work Practice – Its significance and Strategies" to a group of master of social work students at the Polytechnic University. We described the situation of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, and explained how we work to achieve racial equality in the local education system. Two of our scholarship awardees also shared their experience with Chinese learning and social integration, and their participation in the advocacy work of Unison. 

Home Visits 家訪

This month we went visited 3 families in the Tsim Sha Tsui and Tsz Wan Shan Area. We visited 2 families and followed up with a family to see if they needed any additional support.
