Starting this week, you'll be able to find Dry Ridge Farm eggs at Katuah Market (2 Hendersonville Road, close to Biltmore Village)! So, if you run out of your Dry Ridge Farm eggs mid-week, head down to Katuah for more! We think you should head down there anyway, since they're the only grocery store around that does a really good job of working with local farms! We're excited to join their ever growing community of local food producers!
It's official! We've been crossing our fingers and toes for months, and it worked! We're official members of Asheville City Market year-round! We'll have all our products available at this great downtown market all Spring, Summer, and Fall, and we're excited about the new display set up we're hatching up! In the meantime, come see us at our current winter markets:
Asheville City Market Downtown - Sat 10-1 - 161 S. Charlotte Street
YMCA at Woodfin Market - Sat 10-12:30 - 40 N. Merrimon Avenue (Reynolds Village)
Winter Storm Pax brought us 5 litters of piglets!
Pax brought us about 7 inches of snow, and about 40 piglets! Here are some pictures of both!
starting to warm up in this picture... And one ewe is claiming her stake of the hay
Wait for it... piggies!
It's sometimes hard to tell where one piglet ends and another begins... I certainly feel lucky that my work day starts with watching these little guys play and nurse and sleep in adorably awkward positions!
In other news... this is quite possibly the worst place to lose your wedding ring ... We're not holding out much hope... no luck finding it yet.
We're starting to see our first signs of Spring on the farm (not a moment too soon! I'm so ready!). Our first batch of little meat bird chicks arrived 10 days ago; we've got the first daffodils just starting to push flower buds up, and there's the slightest green twinge to our pastures, which is the most exciting of all! Another sign of Spring? Our laying hens are kicking it into high gear- their egg production has doubled in the past week! No joke. Moral of the story? Come buy you some eggs this weekend!
