Ahn Named NAD Secretary

Kyoshin Ahn has been elected as the new North American Division executive secretary. Ahn was selected by the North American Division executive committee and confirm by the General Conference executive committee. Previously, Ahn served as the NAD undersecretary since February 2016.

Baptisms Continue Masked

With COVID-19 disrupting evangelistic meetings in Alaska, several local church pastors and leaders forged ahead and came up with ways to continue reaching their congregations through Zoom, Facebook Live and personal phone calls. In July, six young people were baptized.

Arctic Mission Adventure Offering

The annual North Pacific Union Conference offering, in support of Arctic Mission Adventure, is August 29. This offering is one of the major funding sources for the AMA ministry, which is fully funded by donations from supporters. AMA focuses on reaching over 220 bush villages throughout Alaska. Through radio and Bible workers, AMA has been blessed to enter several communities. But there is much work to be done. Offerings and donations can be made through AdventistGiving or through the AMA website.

A Very Different Camp Meeting

With COVID-19 shaking up camp meeting, Oregon took on the challenge to host a very different looking set of meetings. The result was more than 140 separate online events that were viewed by thousands of participants. There were even Pronto Pups via a one-day drive-through Snack Shack event.

Virtual Camp Meeting Sees Real Answers to Prayer

Washington Conference's camp meeting planning team had two main choices early this spring: cancel camp meeting altogether or plan a virtual camp meeting. The theme for the year, "Praying Continually: A Call to Prayer for the Family of God," had been chosen two years ago. It was a natural fit to transition to a virtual week of prayer featuring local pastors, musicians and prayer partners.


Banana Box Bargains

The Payette Adventist Church's Banana Box Bargains store in Idaho funds ministry while being a ministry at the same time. The store provides discounted food items and includes a thrift store with donated clothing items. These are sold in the store but also available to help those in need of clothing. The funds from the sales and donated clothing go to help the community.


Prayers for PUC and Angwin

A large number of lightning strikes has cause widespread fires across California. Near the community of Angwin, where Pacific Union College is located, a series of small fires has grown into one large fire called the LNU Lightning Complex Fire. It is 131,000 acres and is 0% contained. While there is no current threat to the campus, the community is under mandatory evacuation orders. Please continue to pray for safety for those evacuating and fighting the fires.

Should the Church Help Solve Local Issues?

Barna researchers studied the impact of lay-led initiatives in local communities and what happens when practicing Christians gather together to do good in their neighborhoods. Barna analysts wanted to determine who the general population believes is best suited to solve problems in their local community — and where the Christian church fits into the broader picture.
