Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7)

The Upstairs Room
Next Sunday is Pentecost. If we were re-enacting the story of the disciples at that first Pentecost, this Sunday would be day 3 of their 10-day wait for ‘what the Father promised’. They were like us in the sense that they were in an in-between place before the world would change forever. Like them, we are locked down in rooms, and waiting for something to happen, waiting to emerge again with new power. So this Sunday I’m encouraging you to use this time of lockdown to wait with that same spirit of expectation and prayer for God to change us and the world.

Billy Graham - National Prayer Meeting
Will you gather with Christians from across the UK as we lift up our nation in prayer?

         Strength for Today Prayer Meeting
                     Thursday, 28th May
                             11 a.m.

Dear Friend,

As our nation faces challenges unlike any we’ve ever seen, let’s come together as the body of Christ for a time of dedicated, urgent prayer online.

Together, we will ask the Lord to give our leadership strength and wisdom as they consider how to reopen our communities, pray for His healing and provision for hurting people in our nation and ask Him to help us share the peace of Jesus Christ with others in the days ahead. We’ll also listen to a short devotion and hear a powerful testimony from a pastor who recently recovered from COVID-19.

We hope you’ll also invite friends, family members, neighbours and co-workers to join you for this meeting.

Thank you for your heart to reach people with the love of God. May He richly bless and protect you.

‘The joy of the Lord is your strength.’
—Nehemiah 8:10, NKJV

Pray for France

The accelerating decline of religious faith since the 18th Century has seen France’s Catholic and mainline Protestant legacies plummet in recent years, even as atheism has grown. Hostility toward organized religion as well as the privatization of spirituality mean that regular attendance in any church is below 8%. Some surveys show that over 30% of French people are non-religious. Most French have a profound ignorance of, or indifference to, the gospel, many having never meaningfully encountered it. Yet, the relativism of postmodernity has generated acute emptiness and existential angst; as many have noted, this in turn has created a spiritual hunger that has grown rapidly in recent years. Pray that such hunger might overcome the suspicion toward religion. Pray that Christians would be prepared to patiently and relationally share Jesus with those who seek.
