Ezra: How To Return From Exile 3

Prophetic Stirrings.
We are following the temple rebuilding story in the book of Ezra. Despite the good practical leadership of Zerubbabel and the good spiritual leadership of Joshua the high priest the people had listened to the voice of opposition from the local Persian Empire leaders and the building work had stopped.

It is at this point the Prophets Haggai and Zechariah were raised up to stir the people into action (Ezra Ch 5). This Sunday we will look briefly at Haggai Chapter 2:1-9 and encourage ourselves with three aspects of this prophetic word. 1. Power ( Be Strong) 2. Presence (God is with us) 3. Provision ( God will shake everything up and provide what we need for the task).
The amazing thing about the Ezra story is that the opposition was turned on its head. In Ch 6 you can read how King Darius the Persian emperor found King Cyrus’s original decree for the rebuilding of the Temple ...and also picked up the bill!

So let’s get prophesying again!

Pray for Romania

A legacy of brokenness endures from the days of Ceausescu’s regime. The end of Communism left a vacuum which people try to fill. People struggle with substance abuse, prostitution, human trafficking and abuse of children. Historic corruption has led to widespread unemployment and economic instability. Pray for leadership that has the wisdom to follow the right path, and integrity to establish the right policies.
The Orthodox Church dominates society with 87% of the population affiliated. There can be opposition from Orthodox priests to evangelical outreach.

Literature - pray for the Christian publishing houses and for the distribution networks to establish a viable, indigenously funded literature ministry. Pray that more locally written material might become available.
Radio ministry continues to develop despite difficulties with permission and licences. Several organisations work together to get satellite radio produced. It is a powerful tool in Romania. Pray for both local commercial Christian stations and transmissions from abroad.
