But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"The Lord be exalted!"   ( Psalm 40:16)

His Strange Work
A lot has been written, spoken and prayed for with regard to the Coronavirus. It’s not surprising, since it has had such an impact on the way we are all living life just now. As I have been listening and reading and praying with others, different themes have emerged. One is that the virus is a judgment from God; another is that it is an attack by the evil one; another that it is because of human malevolence or neglect; another that it is the vagary of chance.  I’d like us to think through these themes over the next few weeks. This Sunday, I will focus on two articles that I wrote, one that I published on Facebook and one that I haven’t yet. They are called ‘The God of Disaster' and 'His Strange Work'. Both are drawn from Isaiah’s prophetic oracles (Isaiah 45.7 and Isaiah 28.21 respectively). I hope that they give some perspective on how biblical writers thought about how the good God interacts and engages with those things that we call ‘evil’. The schedule for this Sunday is:

10am: Facebook Live welcome
10.15am: Worship on Youtube
10.30am: Zoom Prayer

Lessons from Lockdown
This week I hope to publish some short video Lessons from Lockdown reflecting some of the themes that we’ve explored through the integration of scripture and the Coronavirus crisis. You will find these mini-messages on the Life Church Paisley YouTube channel.

 Life Church Daily Prayer
The 7pm Prayer time started out as specific prayer for the Coronavirus crisis. Last week we felt it was important to broaden the focus of prayer from the crisis to reflect the corporate daily push of the early church.
Also, we are no longer sending out emails for every meeting; see the relevant link and details below:

Tue 5 May, Thu 14th, Tue 19th, Thu 28th.

Pray for Republic of Cote d'Ivoire (The Ivory Coast)
Please pray for this West African country as Covid -19 has just begin to spread. Pray for good communication and that the staff from Doctors Without Borders who are there to help will be welcomed. Pray the restrictions on people movement will not stop people receiving treatment.
Spiritually, the country is divided. The north is Muslim, the south is predominantly Christian. However animism still has a strong grip in the country. Pray that Christians would be set free of any animismistic practices they have and would withstand the temptation to pick them up again. Also pray for evangelists to speak into the northern peoples, calling them to Christ.
