How lovely are your dwelling places,
O LORD of hosts!
My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Ezra: How To Return From Exile 2

Last week I said that the first thing that must happen if we as a church are to return from exile is that hearts have to be moved. We must learn to move others’ hearts through prayer and must cultivate our own hearts so that they are easily moved by God. Around 42,000 people’s hearts were moved to make the life-changing 900 mile walk through dangerous territory in support of the project to build a temple in Jerusalem. This week we consider the importance of building a temple, and what must be prioritised to do so.

Pray for the Philippines

The Philippines has not yet achieved its economic and political potential. It has many resources including a well educated population but governments have failed to address serious underlying issues. Half the population live in poverty. natural disasters continue to destroy lives and homes, especially in slums.
Pray particularly for children. 24%
of school-aged children are unable to attend school; most either work or have no local school. There are 75,000 street kids in Manila alone.
Sex trade workers. Up to 100,000 children and 400,000 women are involved, many of them trafficked to other countries. The sex industry is apparently the fourth largest source of income. Pray for all involved in rescuing, rehabilitating and discipling these tragic victims of sin.
Students. The Philippines has 2.5 million young people in further education and at university. Pray that they would hear and receive the Gospel during this time.
