CatSpan in the Community

CatSpan held it’s annual book sale and garage sale at Wembley Mall in Parksville on March 21 and 22, 2014.  Over 30 tables were set up to display the books and garage sale items.  CatSpan even had a bake sale which included warm apple pies baked by our volunteers.  CatSpan fleece beds and toys made their debut with positive reviews.  The grand total from the sale was $6,800!  Thank you to Jen C., Jan O., Gini E., and all the other volunteers who spent countless hours sorting, pricing and selling the books and garage sale items.

In addition to the book sale, CatSpan volunteers were in attendance at Bosley's in Parksville on April 12 and 13, 2014 for Pet Appreciation Month.  A portion of the donations collected by Bosley's during the month of April will be donated to CatSpan.

Rural Properties Needed for Barn Cats Program

CatSpan is in desperate need of rural properties (farms, barns or shelters) in Oceanside for our Barn Cat Relocation Program.  All cats are vet checked prior to relocation.  CatSpan will provide the caretakers with support, equipment and food during the transition period of three to four weeks.  Barn cats live healthy, natural lives content in their new outdoor home with food and shelter.

CatSpan's Newest Fundraiser

In March 2014, CatSpan unveiled it's newest fundraiser - the fleece cat bed.  Selling for $20 each, the cat bed provides a cozy spot for your favourite feline to sleep.  Since March, over 45 of these beds have been sold.  100% of the profits stays with CatSpan to care for feral cats in Oceanside.  The cat beds will be available for purchase at most of our events.  Here are a few pictures of our happy customers:

There are numerous benefits to spaying or neutering feral cats including:
  • Reducing the stress of mating and pregnancy
  • Decreasing the unwanted behaviours such as fighting, roaming and marking their territory
  • Reducing the size of feral colonies and subsequently the cost to feed them and provide care
While charitable giving at any time of the year is great, the best way to give is throughout the year.  Not only is it convenient and easier to budget, but CatSpan is able to count on donations coming in all year long.  At CanadaHelps, you can easily set up secure monthly donations and receive only one receipt per year.
