AUGUST 19, 2016 (SALT LAKE CITY) – Evan McMullin today encouraged Americans to join together and support flood and disaster relief for the victims of Louisiana's historic and devastating flooding.
"My prayers and sympathies are with the people of Louisiana as they face the worst natural disaster since Katrina. I encourage Americans to donate to help the victims of these terrible floods by supporting credible charitable efforts in the area. Two organizations that are very active on the ground are the American Red Cross and Catholic Charities.
"You can text the word LAFLOODS to 90999 to make a $10 donation or click here to give online. Donations to Catholic Charities can be made at this link.
"It's important that the people of Louisiana know they are not forgotten. As President, I promise that I will never turn my back on Louisiana, even in moments when it seems as though everyone else has.
"Louisiana is a vital part of our nation's heritage and of our country's economy. America needs Louisiana, and right now, Louisiana needs America. I hope President Obama will immediately focus the attention and aid Louisiana needs to recover. This vibrant, unique American community is dear to my heart, and if elected the people of Louisiana will have a friend and supporter in the White House."
