Functional Skills an important qualification... It's now official!

Nick Bowles, the Minister for Skills described Functional Skills as “important” at the Conservative Party Conference, and pledged to work with Ofqual on improving elements of the qualification, including the branding. When reminded of previous government attempts to get colleges to offer “GCSE or nothing,” Mr Boles said: “Well, now I am saying it’s both…I have asked Ofqual in my first meeting with them to do a formal review of Functional Skills, to look at what’s in them, what they think of them, but also to give us some advice on the branding of them.”

With just two weeks to go until the English, Maths and ESOL Conference on the 23rd October in Derby this topic will be a ‘hot topic’ for discussion.  Join our guests Steve Besley (Pearson Policy Watch), Fiona Pethick (Ofqual), Jonathan Wells (Guroo) as well as other experts who will give us their expert opinion on the future of Functional Skills.
