IsSDB

The Israeli Society
for Developmental Biology

Dear IsSDB members

We would like to turn your attention to the new IsSDB website at http://www.issdb.org. In addition, we would like to introduce another new feature, the IsSDB Newsletter, which will include news for the local Developmental Biology community, such as dates of relevant lectures by scientists from overseas visiting in Israeli universities, information and links to relevant conferences, etc.

We will start with sending an email with the Newsletter once in 2 months (if you know people who didn’t receive this first Newsletter, please direct them to the new website for registration). The information appearing in the Newsletter will also appear in the IsSDB website. We would like to thank our representatives in the different campuses across the country for volunteering to help with information about lectures.

The IsSDB Career Award

The IsSDB steering committee has recently established a new award for recognizing Israeli scientists who significantly contributed to the field of Developmental Biology and to the development of the field in Israel. The winners are chosen by an ad-hoc award advisory committee, composed of representatives from the major Israeli universities, members of the steering committee, and representative scientists from overseas.
We are delighted to announce Prof. Ben-Zion (Benny) Shilo from the Weizmann Institute as the winner of the 2017 IsSDB career award. The award will be given at the opening of the annual IsSDB 1-day symposium on “Developmental Cell Death” in June 18, 2017, at the Weizmann Institute. The ceremony will be followed by Prof. Shilo’s lecture.
For more information, refer to http://www.issdb.org/

The IsSDB Annual Symposium on Developmental Cell Death

The next IsSDB annual symposium will focus on Developmental Cell Death. It will be held at the Wezimann Institute on June 18th, 2017. This 1-day symposium will be shared with the ICDS. We are currently putting together the program which will include lectures by local scientists and scientists from overseas. Once ready, the program will appear, together with registration details, at the IsSDB website in the next few months.Attendance to this symposium is free of charge for IsSDB members (and their lab personnel), albeit it will require pre-registration.
