The IsSDB Career Award
The IsSDB steering committee has recently established a new award for recognizing Israeli scientists who significantly contributed to the field of Developmental Biology and to the development of the field in Israel. The winners are chosen by an ad-hoc award advisory committee, composed of representatives from the major Israeli universities, members of the steering committee, and representative scientists from overseas

We are delighted to announce Prof. Ben-Zion (Benny) Shilo from the Weizmann Institute as the winner of the 2017 IsSDB career award. The award will be given at the opening of the annual IsSDB 1-day symposium on “Developmental Cell Death” on June 18, 2017, at the Weizmann Institute. The ceremony will be followed by Prof. Shilo’s lecture.

The IsSDB 2017 Symposium on Developmental Cell Death
The next IsSDB annual symposium will focus on Developmental Cell Death. It will be held at the Weizmann Institute on June 18th, 2017. This 1-day symposium will be shared with the International Cell Death Society (ICDS). The program includes lectures by local scientists and scientists from overseas, and will soon be posted on the IsSDB website. Attendance to this symposium is free of charge for IsSDB members (and their lab personnel), albeit it requires pre-registration (a link for registration will soon appear in the IsSDB website).

First Announcement About the 4-day IsSDB-GfE 2019 Conference in Vienna
Please secure the date for the 4-day joint conference of the IsSDB and the German Society of Developmental Biology (GfE) that will take place in Vienna on February 17-20, 2019. Representatives of the IsSDB and GfE steering committees will soon meet to discuss planning details. Stay tuned for more details in the near future.

Save the Date for the 2017 International Cell Death Society (ICDS) Conference on Cell Death in Development and Disease
The Weizmann Institute is proud to host the annual conference of the International Cell Death Society (ICDS), a Batsheva de Rothschild Seminar on “Cell Death in Development and Disease”. The conference will be held at the David Lopatie Conference Centre at the WIS on June 18-20, 2017. The conference will host experts in the field of cell death and development from Israel and overseas. Deadline for early registration and abstract submission is April 1st and April 15th, respectively. For details click here

The Switzerland Institute Symposium on Development of Sensory Systems
The international symposium on the Development of sensory systems will focus on the development of sensing and sensory organs. The symposium will span topics ranging from the development of mammalian sensory organs, through the development of neuronal sensory circuits, to sensing in plants. The symposium will be held on July 5th, 2017 at the capsule building in Tel Aviv University. For more information click here
