A European Community of Geo-ICT SMEs


smeSpire ( is an FP7 Support Action aiming to turn the challenges of the INSPIRE European Directive implementation into business opportunities for the “Geo-ICT” European Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Almost one year ago the smeSpire project started contacting you, asking to contribute to a survey about the geoICT sector in Europe.

Thanks to the valuable contributions sent by more than 300 SMEs, the study has been completed and is going to be made publicly available by the end of this month.

Even though the survey is now closed, we encourage those of you who have not done yet to adhere to the smeSpire network, filling-in a simple adhesion form clicking on the Join-Us button in the home page of

The smeSpire Database and Best Practice Catalogue web applications are now both available at
Both of them are accessible to any anonymous user in view mode, whilst they will be accessible in edit mode only to the owner of the data (already member of the smeSpire network).

It is a public, searchable and structured repository of information on the characteristics, activities and competencies of Geo-ICT SMEs in Europe.
It enables complex business intelligence studies and analyses, useful to extract real indicators and to map competences from Geo-ICT SMEs across Europe. Check it Here!

It is a public, searchable and structured repository of products, services, projects, tools, procedures, methods and experience of the Geo-ICT SMEs in Europe.
It is a showcase enabling a Geo-ICT marketplace from both the offer and the demand sides.

The smeSpire training programme 2013–2014

In the frame of the smeSpire training initiatives, Spatial Applications Division of KU Leuven (SADL) just launched an intense program of seminars which will take place in Leuven from Autumn 2013 to Spring 2014, the first of them the 21st of October. Check the full program here!
