"Step into the green room with Lady Christina at the end of what could be her last show.

She’s tired of metro-sexual audiences looking for something a little risqué to tell their mothers about, she’s tired of young drag queens making it look easy, and she’s tired of putting on the make-up and becoming someone else every night. In short, Drag has become a drag.

But past and present collide as Christina starts to take off the make-up to find her father’s features reflected in the face she sees in the mirror. It’s a reminder of all the reasons why Christopher Laneghan invited her into his life, and maybe the thing that keeps Christina alive.

We are very pleased to bring drama back to the stage at the cornerHOUSE after so many months dark. And this is an exceptional piece of work by prolific cornerHOUSE associate Andy Moseley. Andy has written many plays premiered at the cornerHOUSE which have gone on to sell-out success at festivals, including  Edinburgh and Buxton. Make-up is touring, and the schedule includes Brighton festival later this month and the Edinburgh Underbelly as part of next year's fringe. At the cornerHOUSE the performance will be followed by a Q&A session with Andy and actor Moj Taylor. A video taster of the play is available through the link below.

Introducing a new series of illustrated talks
Thursday 24th September 7.30 for 7.45

"The Beginnings Of European Art"
with Valerie Nunn

If Byzantine art is all Greek to you and Early Christian art sounds like a contradiction in terms (weren’t they all too busy being eaten by lions?), then this could be an illuminating evening for you. And yes, there will be some painted, but no ‘illuminated’, manuscripts (they come later).

Come prepared to be challenged and take part in some visual analysis (optional, but fun).

Booking essential

A FREE event with retiring collection for cornerHOUSE funds.

Covid 19 secure venue

To prepare for this we :

  • reduced the capacity of the cornerHOUSE the main adutorium from 150 to 40

  • set out the auditorium seating in a socially-distanced layout

  • enabled paired seating for people in the same family or bubble

  • introduced a one-way system

  • installed sanitiser stations

  • improved the hand-washing facilities

  • set up track-and-trace registers

  • made all public events pre-booked only ( including free events )

  • provided PPE for volunteers

  • listened to our users

  • recognised the need to continue to review our operations and make changes as experience reveals needs

Thank you for your cooperation, common-sense and continued support in these strange times.
