Course Overview:
Keeping on top of all the changes to guidelines and the latest research can be a challenge, so
the Red Whale team have done all the legwork for you. Written and presented by their ANP and
GP team, this jam-packed one-day course focuses on the
priorities relevant to nursing in primary care.
What will be covered?
NEW NICE Diabetes guidance and all things gliflozin!
Asthma including: sustainable respiratory care and choosing inhalers
with a lower carbon footprint.
COPD including malnutrition
Heart failure
Menopause: how to support women with menopausal symptoms
Wound care: avoiding pitfalls
Obesity: Bariatric surgery and BMI in ethnic minorities
Plus lots more bread and butter primary care from nose bleeds to insomnia!

Course attendance certificate and CPD credits
A printed copy of the course handbook packed with additional content

HEE Funded Training and Development Opportunity: How to Increase Person-Centred Care in the Workplace
Aimed at:
Leaders wanting to support employees to make change (through mentoring)
Employees who want to implement a change in practice in their workplace (they will be supported by a mentor).
The training is designed to equip staff with the skills to lead and implement change that will increase person-centred care in the workplace.
This is a great opportunity for employees to take some time to reflect on their experiences and understand how they can work with their colleagues to influence and make improvements that will increase the quality of care delivered.

What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee learns and gains valuable experiences. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
An apprenticeship includes:
- Paid employment with holiday leave
- Hands-on-experience in a sector/role of interest
- At least 20% off-the-job training
- Formal assessment which leads to a nationally recognised qualification

For anyone that wishes to progress in their career with an apprenticeship, but doesn't have a level 2 qualification in English and Maths
Functional Skills Qualifications have been designed to help young people and adults develop practical skills in English, Mathematics and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The qualifications are often a central part of a learner’s programme of study.

Nursing Associate to Registered Nurse Top-up
BPP Education are offering a NA Top-Up, for starters from September that will complete before March 2024
BPP are running a NA Top-up Apprenticeship Programme which must be complete by March 2024 and enables employers to claim £8,300 per year (up to March 2024).
The pathways available are Adult, Child & Mental Health. If you would like any further information contact Helen Farnworth, Staffordshire Training Hub Apprenticeship Facilitator via h.farnworth@nhs.net
As this is a top-up cohort any students applying will need to meet the following
entry criteria – GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English, Foundation Degree Certificate, full transcript and evidence of completed practice hours.

Impact of Long-Term Health
Conditions Workshops
Designed to support Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and other health and care professionals working in population health, participants will build
their knowledge and skills within this area as well as:
• Develop skills in strategic planning for community based programmes for chronic long-term conditions and its implications on public health
• Inform health care workers, carers and family members who live or work with people with chronic condition in self-managements and self-care to bring about life-long change.
• To help people with long term chronic conditions regain their confidence, mobility, and return to exercise levels to improve and maintain their
quality of life and functional independence
• To get guidance on how to re-navigate their way through the changes in the Health and Social Care system that have occurred post COVID.
