Best Practices Series

Let's support mathematics teachers as they help students build vital problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills! This fall, CCIU is offering two mathematics series focused on providing teachers with the instructional strategies, resources and practical solutions they need to create engaging environments where all students can thrive.
HIIT-4-Math Secondary Series for grades 6 to 12
Facilitator: Dr. Paul Riccomini
Starts: Wednesday, September 29
Time: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Delivery: Five virtual sessions

This series will focus on the instructional strategies and practices to increase:
  • Retention
  • Mathematical reasoning
  • Algebraic thinking
  • Mathematical language
All strategies have been designed to translate to application in both online and in-person learning environments.

Focusing Priorities to Accelerate Learning in
Mathematics in K-6 Classrooms
Facilitator: Dr. Brad Witzel
Starts: Monday, October 18
Time: 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Delivery: Three virtual sessions

During this series, participants will explore:
  • Why students struggle
  • How to help those students thrive in mathematics
  • Tools to increase instructional effectiveness
  • Assessment-driven approaches to supporting struggling students
