GO raises $11K for our Low-Literacy Cancer Education Materials

GO launched our first-ever fundraising campaign in support of developing, producing and distributing our cancer education materials to partners in Malawi, Rwanda, Haiti and Guatemala in 2015. Thank you for helping us raise over $11K so far! DONATE NOW to help us reach our $15K goal.

The ultimate goal of this work is to close the gaps in cancer patient education worldwide, addressing the wide differences in literacy levels and promoting treatment adherence by helping patients understand their disease. Read more

GO's cancer education materials, recently translated to Creole, made it to Haiti this summer (above photo) with Harvard Medical Student, Laurie Schleimer (not pictured).

Local providers and patients were excited and grateful for the materials. Almost 200 booklets were distributed in the first month, with more on the way to meet popular demand.

Interviews and focus groups with patients have provided compelling feedback to inform the next round of revisions.

GO's 14th Tumor Board: 1st Multiple Myeloma Case

The GO-Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital Collaboration (QECH) is GO's oldest partnership, and the project is gaining momentum. The team is recruiting a cohort of oncologists from Boston and Palo Alto in every specialty in order to sustain biweekly tumor boards starting this fall. Please do connect GO with interested MDs that you might know!

The most recent tumor board was GO's 1st multiple myeloma case for which Dr. Noopur Raje from MGH consulted with QECH oncologists via video conference. Watch this 2-minute video...
