UHNA Annual Membership Drive Is Underway!

Your Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association membership runs on the calendar year, which means unless you renewed or joined in the last month, you are due to renew for 2020.  Your voluntary annual dues of just $15 for an individual, or $30 for a family are critical to fund our meetings, fun social events, communications, and enable us to effectively advocate on behalf of the neighborhood when issues arise. Membership is open to ALL residents of Underwood Hills, whether you own or rent.  Please remind and encourage your neighbors to do their part! Click the button below to join or renew today, or contact Tyler Smith for more information!

Beat 204 Crime Data

Every metric from January 2020 indicates crime is down in Zone 2, with the exception of auto theft, which is up 43% from this time last year. Last month, Beat 204 (Underwood Hills) had 6 auto thefts, 5 non-residential burglaries, 16 thefts from vehicles, and 1 theft not from a vehicle. None of these crimes took place within the core residential areas of Underwood Hills! This is a huge win for the Underwood Hills Security Patrol. The best part is, for only 68 cents a day, you can do your part to ensure off-duty APD patrols continue! If you have not paid your 2020 dues for Security Patrol, or would like more information, please contact John Haliburton

Underwood Hills' Neighbors In the News!

Melody Harclerode (below, left), Sandy Springs Conservancy Director, is the 2019 winner of the prestigious Ivan Allen Award! The most prestigious award bestowed by the American Institute of Architects, this award recognizes the winner for overall career excellence. Way to go, Melody!

John Haliburton (below, right), co-founder and partner at Thrash-Haliburton, received a prestigious honor from JAMES Magazine. His firm was honored as the Top Governmental Affairs Firms by Georgia lobbyists, in the smaller category. Awesome job, John!

Upper Westside CID Traffic Meeting

A final official forum will be held this Friday, February 7 at Einstein's Bagels on Howell Mill at 8am. The final draft for the preferred alternative of the Howell Mill bike/pedestrian study will be presented. This will be the UHNA's last chance to provide feedback and request changes, before the plan is proposed to the city in hopes of receiving federal grants to incrementally implement the plan over the next several years. For more information, please contact Elizabeth Hollister.

Underwood Hills Running Club

The Underwood Hills Running Club is meeting every Saturday at 7:30am outside the Northside Church of God (1736 Harper St NW). Anyone is welcomed to join in a fun run through Underwood Hills, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Whether you are doing it for fun, or are training for an event, this is a great way to meet your neighbors, and kick your weekend off on the right foot! For more information, please contact Adam Karcz.

Volunteers Needed for Underwood Hills Park Tree Planting

Help improve the forest at our beloved park by planting native trees and shrubs in the recently kudzu-cleared areas. Your help is needed digging holes, loosening root balls, watering, and mulching. The first event is this Saturday, February 8 from 9am to 12pm. The second event is Saturday, February 15 from 9am to 12pm. With your help, 200 trees were planted in January, alone! For more information, please contact Steven Lindsay.
