New American Paintings is a juried exhibition-in-print. Entries from thousands of emerging artists are reviewed by experienced curators before selection.

ART EDUCATION

In collaboration with Tallahassee’s Opening Nights events, the Department of Art Education will be hosting a community mural painting from February 7th to the 28th on Gaines Street.

ART HISTORY

Two Florida State University Art History professors, one current graduate student and two alumni are presenting papers at the 103rd annual College Art Association Conference, which will be held February 11 through February 14 in New York, NY.

"Ply on the Fly" Interior Design Exhibit

INTERIOR DESIGN

The Department of Interior Design hosted a student furniture gallery opening at the William Johnston Gallery titled Ply on the Fly on Thursday evening, January 15th.

DANCE

MFA candidates will present The Way We’re Made, in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance, on February 27 & 28, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.  Also, the Suzanne Farrell Ballet will engage in an artistic partnership with Theatre Ballet Moscow in February 2015.

Alumnus featured in new film "Selma"

THEATRE

The new film Selma, which is currently playing in theaters, features two alumni from the Florida State University School of Theatre – Andre Holland (BFA Acting, 2001) and Tara Ochs (BA Theatre, 1997).

Denise Bookwalter and AB Gorham will represent Small Craft Advisory Press at the CODEX International Bookfair and Symposium in Berkley, California, February 8-11.

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training continues its 2014-15 season with the Tony®-nominated and Obie-winning Broadway hit [TITLE OF SHOW], a witty and hip musical that replays the real-life story of its own creation.

FSU welcomes back Nora Chipaumire as she returns to Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) for her third Choreographic Fellowship (January 28 – February 15, 2015) to develop portrait of myself as my father.

MOFA opens new exhibition, "The Human Experience"

MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

On February 13, the Museum of Fine Arts will open a spate of new exhibitions drawn from the Institute on World War II titled The Human Experience.

RINGLING

Two major gifts to The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art will be used toward the construction of The Kotler-Coville Glass Pavilion, a 5,500 square foot expansion, which will create a dedicated space for the display of studio art glass and a new formal entrance to the Historic Asolo Theater.
