CFA recently hosted its first annual “Dean’s Showcase of Student Achievement” at the Augustus B Turnbull Conference Center. Twelve outstanding students, both graduate and undergraduate, presented on a wide-range of topics to an audience of over 100 students, faculty, alumni and friends.

Florida State University’s Department of Art BFA ’09 Rachel Rossin – a multi-media and installation artist based in New York City – rounded out the year featured in the November 2017 issue of “Art Forum”, a nationally-renowned contemporary art magazine.

Art Education

The Department of Art Education would like to extend its congratulations to Art Education alumna Barbara Davis for being named Art Educator of the Year by the Florida Art Education Association (FAEA). Davis has been teaching at the Florida State University School for 15 years.

Art History

Haitian-born artist, Edouard Duval-Carrié, returns to Tallahassee for Decolonizing Refinement, an exhibition of his works hosted at the Museum of Fine Arts, arranged by an Art History curatorial team, and associated with a symposium on African Diaspora and Caribbean Studies on February 17.


The School of Dance is excited to welcome Associate Professor Donna Uchizono to the Studio Practice and Composition faculty. Donna is teaching Contemporary Dance and Dance Repertory this semester and will provide valuable one-on-one mentorship to the students in our dance program.

Interior Architecture & Design

Interior Architecture and Design MFA student, Mary Johnson, was awarded a scholarship to travel to Washington, D.C. and attend the Designthinkers Bootcamp – a week long program facilitated by the DesignThinkers Group USA.


The School of Theatre celebrated the holiday season with Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future at the Annual Benefit Concert, a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic – “A Christmas Carol”.

Museum of Fine Arts

Join MoFA and the Department of Art for the 2018 Annual Art Faculty Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts January 12, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We can only anticipate what is bound to expand the known universe in inventive and unpredictable ways.

Facility for Arts Research

The Facilities for Arts Research and the FSU ceramics area are collaborating on researching 3D printing clay with the Multi-Modal Additive Printer(mMAP). Eric Adams and Marty Fielding will exhibit artwork created and present their research at the NCECA conference.


Having supported three artistic projects and one site visit Fall 2017, MANCC now looks forward to supporting eight more diverse projects this Spring. Each year, 10-15 nationally significant artists inhabit MON in one to three week periods.

FSU / Asolo Conservatory

Let’s get this out of the way first thing: Yes, if you go see a play titled The Motherf***with the Hat, you can expect a lot—a lot—of strong language to be uttered in the course of the evening. Got it? OK, now let’s move on the subjects of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ play, now onstage in the Cook Theatre.
