BWBJ Stands Up For Breastfeeding

Webinar: Breastfeeding as a Radical Act

BWBJ members Linda and Sayida present findings from Battling Over Birth and discuss factors contributing to positive and negative breastfeeding outcomes among black women. Highlights will include the impact of racism, medicalization, intergenerational trauma and internalized shame on breastfeeding, as well as the revitalization of traditional bonding and breastfeeding in black communities.

The UCSF California Preterm Birth Initiative has been doing some incredible research and in early July they showcased some of it at their July Collaboratory titled "Black Women's Perspectives on Structural Racism Across the Reproductive Lifecourse".
