Scientific and Technological Council Renewal

The SystemX's Scientific and Technological Council consists of 12 permanent members and 2 guest members from academic and industrial sectors. On December 1, the Council elected its new president, Nozha Boujemaa (Inria), and welcomed new members: Yves Bamberger (National Academy of Technologies of France / EDF /École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées) and Serge Fdida (University Pierre and Marie Curie). Alain Bravo (National Academy of Technologies - France) also joined the Council as a permanent guest.


Smart City Expo World Congress Feedback

SystemX exhibited alongside the city of Lyon at the Smart City Expo World Congress which took place from 14 to 16 November in Barcelona. With almost 19,000 attendees, the seventh edition of the event was a resounding success. Lionel Scremin (Director of the SystemX@Lyon site) looks back.


From Platforms Department to Technical Department 

The SystemX Platforms Department changed its name to Technical Department on November 20. This Department meets two major objectives:

  • Speed up technology transfers between academic and industrial partners and between SystemX’s research projects through its nine technological platforms.
  • Support SystemX’s research projects in their life cycle with three areas of expertise: “Resources and Infrastructure”, “Architecture and Software Integration”, “Data, UX and Interaction”.

Assises de l'Embarqué

SystemX attended the Assises de l'Embarqué on November 24, an event dedicated to industrial and research stakeholders. Paul Labrogère (Autonomous Transport Program Director - SystemX) presented the "Security of Autonomous Systems" working group he leads within Embedded France. Loïc Cantat (Technical Coordinator - SystemX) talked in a panel session on the following topic: "How to embed Artificial Intelligence?".


French-Spanish Meeting for Higher Education

The first French-Spanish meeting for higher eduction held on November 17, under the patronage of Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Éric Perrin-Pelletier (CEO - SystemX), talked in a panel session to share his view on innovation involvement within the French research and higher education systems.


Digital & Innovation Makers Summit

Digital & Innovation Makers Summit is the major event for Innovation Managers and members of the Innovation Makers Alliance (IMA) association. The 2017 edition of the event held from 15 to 16 November in Lille. On this occasion, SNCF, PSA Peugeot Citroën and Groupe La Poste, SystemX partners, gave feedback on their involvement within the institute, notably on the Autonomous Transport topic and on the Blockchain topic. 


Blockchains in the Real Life

The latest edition of Télécom Paris Talks dealt with blockchain applications and has been moderated by François Stephan (Deputy CEO – International & Development - SystemX). Two partners of the Blockchain for Smart Transactions (BST) project took the floor to present ongoing initiatives for Blockchain development: EDF and Caisse des Dépôts. 
Organized by Télécom Evolution and Télécom ParisTech Alumni, Télécom Paris Talks is a cycle of conference-debates that brings together experts who are recognized in the digital society top topics.

Talents in motion

My Thesis in Three Years

Emna Moones, PhD student, completed her doctoral thesis on multilevel interoperability in a collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) environment. She looks back on the three years of her doctoral thesis within the PLM Interoperability & Standards (SIP) project.

SystemX Lyon

Singaporean Delegation in Lyon 
In the context of the "2018, year of French-Singapore Innovation" project, the IRT BIOASTER and Invest in Lyon, the Lyon area economic development agency,  welcomed Zainal Arif Mantaha, the ambassador of Singapore to France. 
SystemX was invited as a local and Singaporean representative of innovation. The delegation underlined the institute's involvement in the development of autonomous transport in Singapore.


#IRTForum2017 Feedback

On November 28, FIT (French Institutes of Technology) association organized the 5th IRT Forum in Paris. This event brought together IRTs' academic and industrial partners and some stakeholders of French innovation.
The forum illustrated on stage the three major ambitions of the eight institutes: scientific excellence, business impact and international reference.


Autonomous Shuttles: RATP launched a New Experimentation

RATP, Île-de-France Mobilities and the city of Paris launched in November a test of autonomous shuttles in the Vincennes Woods, for a 6-month period.


"My Thesis in 180 seconds" competition is ongoing!

CNRS and CPU (Conférence des Présidents d’Université) are organizing for the 5th year throughout France the competition called "My thesis in 180 seconds". The MT 180 competition encourages PhD students to introduce to laypersons the subject of their research, in French and straightforward words, in just 3 minutes. You are a PhD student in a Université Paris-Saclay establishment? Participate in the 2017 edition of the competition!

Internet of Trust

SDN Day @ SystemX
SystemX organized the SDN (Software-Defined Networking) Day on November 23, on the following topic: "Optimization and Algorithms for SDN Networks". Almost 100 participants attended this event, punctuated by several talks with expert speakers and by a poster exhibition.

SystemX Involvement in Cyber-Risk and Insurance
From November 6 to 7, the campus of Jussieu (University Pierre and Marie Curie) hosted a conference dedicated to the cyber-risk. The objective was to compare several experts opinions on this topic. Philippe Wolf and Philippe Laurier took the floor to present the SystemX Environment for Cybersecurity Interoperability and Integration (EIC) project activities for the cyber-risk insurance. 

Cyberconference for Intelligent Collectivities
Organized by the Cybercercle, the second meeting of economic and strategic intelligence (RPIES) took place on November 29. Isabelle Hirayama (EIC project) shared views on the digital sovereignty at the heart of strategic information.

Smart Territories

Smart City Antony
On November 21, the city of Antony and Systematic Paris-Region organized, in partnership with SystemX, an event dedicated to the digital transformation of the existing cities. The Smart City Energy Analytics (SCE) project presented its research efforts in the field of energy management and Jakob Puchinger (Anthropolis Chair holder) talked in a panel session on mobility.

RISEGrid Institute's Scientific Day
The RISEGrid Institute (Research Institute for Smarter Electric Grids) was launched jointly by CentraleSupélec and EDF and is dedicated to the study, modelling and simulation of smart electric distribution grids. On November 30, the institute organized the fourth edition of its annual scientific day, dedicated to intelligent electrical systems. Amira Ben Hamida (SCE project manager) gave a talk on the following topic: "IA applications for Smart Cities energy". 


Agile Industry

Lambda Mu Congress
During the 21st issue of Lambda Mu conference in Reims from October 16 to 18 2018, will be considered the approaches, methods and tools to take up the challenge of digital transformation. Through industrial applications and research works, problems presented and answers brought will be explored depending on the various activity elds.
Call for papers is opened until January 8!

Additive Factory Hub Inauguration
Valérie Pécresse
, President of the Île-de-France Region, inaugurated the Additive Factory Hub (AFH) on December 5. The AFH brings together almost 20 partners, among them SystemX, to create a Research & Development tool, internationally recognized and for the development of industry with additive manufacturing.

From November 13 to 24, Michel Batteux (OAR project manager) delivered a course on complex systems engineering at the École Centrale de Pékin (China), a CentraleSupélec school.

The LRA project ended. Cybersecurity for Intelligent Transport (CTI) Project in the Spotlight
From November 28 to 29, Witold Klaudel (CTI project Manager) attended the "Software Defined Vehicles" event in Berlin. This event aims to present the challenges and trends focusing mostly on software development and software safety for autonomous vehicles. It was a great opportunity to present the SystemX activities in the fields of architectures safety and security, monitoring and supervision and risk analysis.

SystemX@Singapore joined the CETRAN Project
In 2014, Singapore has launched its Smart Mobility 2030 program, dedicated to “moving towards a more connected and interactive land transport community”. 
SystemX@Singapore is contributing to this effort by joining the CETRAN (Centre of Excellence for Testing & Research of AVs at NTU) project, aimed at testing and certifying the autonomous vehicles. The official signing of this collaboration took place on November 22, with the presence of Khaw Boon Wan, Minister of Transport in Singapore.

SystemX and Ifsttar addressed the Mobility issues at the European Big Data Value Forum
As part of the European Big Data Value Forum, SystemX and Ifsttar organized a workshop on November 23 on the following topic: "Data, Mobility and Public Transport". The goal of the workshop was to bring together experts to present and discuss macro issues related to the contribution of data sciences to understanding mobilities and to improve the quality of public transport by exposing the underlying scientific challenges illustrated on several usecases.
