Term Time Leave
Last week I informed you about Woodfield School’s protocols on term term holiday. The school follows strict government guidelines and policy that means all unauthorised term time leave will be referred to your local Education Welfare Service which could result in you being issued with a fine. Please visit the Parents Zone of school website via this link, where you will find a form you need to download and complete make a request for term time leave.
Glass Containers
Please do not send any glass containers into school for health and safety reasons. Pupils should only use plastic water bottles and if they are bring ingredients for food technology lessons they should be brought in plastic tupperware. Plastic water bottles are available as a merit prize.
School Lunches
We encourage healthy eating at all times. A packed lunch must not include any drinks other than water, not include nuts, not include crisps or sweet products. We have become a nut free school as we have students with severe nut allergies. If you are unsure about the suitability of any item for your child’s packed lunch, contact the school office to check. There is more information about our school dinners and policies in the parents section of the school website.
Uniform
Please make sure that your child comes to school wearing full and correct uniform. Please also ensure all school uniform is labelled with your child’s name.
Emergency Contact
We must have emergency contact details for all our pupils. It is vital that we are able to get hold of a contact person in the case of a pupil emergency or illness. We have had issues in contacting parents or guardians, which not only creates concern for the school but also makes pupils anxious.
PE Kit
Please make sure that your child has a clean PE kit each week. We suggest pupils bring the kit to school on Monday morning and take it home for washing on Friday. Please help your child to get into these routines. You can see what day your child has PE or Sport classes by looking up Class Timetables in the Parents Section of the Woodfield website. Your child’s PE kit should consist of trainers, shorts or tracksuit bottoms and a T –shirt. Jumpers and long sleeve tops are also useful in colder weather. The table below shows the days classes have PE lessons.

Reminder
Polite reminder to all parents that the school car park is reserved for staff, transport busses and authorised visitors only. Due to the lack of space and the amount of transport busses entering and leaving the school, it causes a build-up of unnecessary traffic and is unsafe for our pupils, especially those travelling independently. There are two roads available besides the school on which parents can park and then walk the pupil into the school.
Makaton
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.
