The University of Kentucky's SSTOP Hunger: Sustainable Solutions to Overcome Poverty organization is hosting a screening of the award-winning Sundance documentary LOOK & SEE, a powerful cinematic portrait of Wendell Berry— farmer, activist, and undoubtedly one of America’s most significant living writers. Research Opportunity: Go Big & Bring it Home
Do you want to help 14-15 year olds make healthier eating and drinking choices? Want to be part of a research study? If so, we need your help with a research intervention among High School students in Kentucky and North Carolina! The Goal of Go Big and Bring it Home - To increase fruit and vegetables purchases and consumption among adolescents in rural counties in KY and NC. Student Research Associate: Local Foods in Cooperative Extension Program Inventory
The Food Connection is looking for a research associate to work directly with the Executive Director, Dr. Lilian Brislen, to conduct an inventory of past and current programming related to local food systems. The time commitment is 8-10 hrs/week for a semester with compensation from $1,500 - 2,000. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. Send the following documents to email@example.com:

ACSM President to Speak at Graduate Exercise Science Seminar
Dr. Walter R. Thompson, President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) will be speaking at UK's Graduate Exercise Science Seminar Series on Friday September 8, 2017 from 9-10am. Dr. Thompson is very engaged in the Paralympic movement and will also address issues related to exercise science/sports medicine for the elite athlete with a physical disability. See you there!
Shadow at the Nutrition Clinic at Salvation Army
The Lexington Nutrition Clinic is held twice a month at the Salvation Army from 6-7:30 pm. We would like to invite undergraduate dietetic students to shadow the RD/MD to learn about nutritional counseling to the under-served and homeless population and see it in action. Girls on the Run: Inspiring Girls across Kentucky
We are recruiting volunteers for our fall season that begins the week of September 11 and concludes with a 5K on Dec 2. Head coaches commit to facilitating both of the 75 minute practices weekly. The season is 10 weeks. Assistant coaches help support the head coach one or both practices and running buddies encourage the girls as they run/walk/practice weekly.
We will train the students and they will then teach the curriculum weekly to 3rd-8th grade girls, that inspires them to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. We have 2 four hour training's available to select from - Thursday 9/7 from 5-9:30 PM or Saturday 9/9 from 8 AM-12:30 PM. Learn more and register online. Join our Golden Spoons feeding assistance team. Volunteers will be assisting hospitalized inpatients during meal periods.
