Winter Banquet 2018
Winter Banquet was an amazing event! With nearly 100 Arrowmen an attendance, it was a great night where we celebrated our accomplishments in 2018, and looked towards our next year in 2019. During the event, we presented the Founders’ Award to two deserving individuals, Robby Connor and Mr. David Hale.
We also presented five honor feathers. An honor feather represents dedicated cheerful service and attitude towards our Lodge and Camp. Three youth Arrowmen and two adults were presented Honor Feathers for their cheerful service. These were Branson Redden, Josh Satcher, Brayden Swinford, Belinda Barker, and J.C. Koehler. All in all, this was a great event, thank you to everyone who came out!

Do You Know Someone Who Should Be Vigil?
The Vigil honor is the highest honor with the Order of the Arrow and is only given to those most dedicated to the Order and it purposes. Every year the lodge selects those who have given themselves to the idea of cheerful service for others. This honor is held so highly that the lodge is only able to nominate 1 eligible member out of every 50 members in the lodge. Meaning, our lodge was only able to nominate 5 members for the vigil class of 2018. Want to know how this prestigious honor is bestowed? All nominees must meet the following qualifications:
· Must be a registered member of the Northwest Georgia Council, B.S.A.
· Must be an active Brotherhood member in good standing (dues-paid) of Waguli Lodge.
· A minimum of two years from the time of Brotherhood conversion to the time of the Vigil candidate meeting.
· A Lodge nomination form must be filled out by someone within the Lodge. These forms are available at Waguli.com,
If any lodge members meets all of the qualifications, they will then be considered by the Waguli Vigil committee to be selected as a Vigil candidate. This committee is made up by a variety of Vigil members and one honorary Brotherhood member. However, only the youth Vigil members may vote on the Vigil class for the current year. Their selection is based solely on the national standards, and all committee members carefully assess individuals based on the following information.
“The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their positions or office to one or more of the following: their Lodge, the Order of the Arrow, the Scouting community, or their Scout Camp. Anyone can nominate an Arrowman for the Vigil Honor… Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting be considered reason enough for a Vigil Honor nomination.”
If you know an Arrowman who should be considered for the Vigil Honor, please fill out the Waguli Vigil nomination form on Waguli.com, Fill out as much information as possible. The Vigil committee will carefully review the application for consideration of the 2019 Vigil class.
Schedule Unit Elections
Has your troop or crew scheduled its unit election yet? Unit elections conducted by the Lodge are the only way for your troop or crew to induct new members into the Order of the Arrow, and your troop or crew must request a unit visitation in order to earn the OA Unit of Excellence award.
